The Twilight movie is scheduled for release on the 21st, and we want in on the fun. You are all invited to attend a Twilight showing on the 22nd, for fun and profit. Of course, this’ll probably be difficult to make for people living outside the fine state of Minnesota, but maybe you can arrange fun of your own. Date and time are to be finalized, but I suspect we’ll be seeing it in a suburban theater (more suburban fans) in the afternoon (more suburban fans). We did this a few years ago with the Eragon movie, and it was pretty fantastic. See you guys there.

Also, keep up the NaNoWriMoing. ;)

Date, Time, and Location

Oh, Eragon was fun, hopefully this will be better though. We definitely need to be a little more obnoxious than last time. :P

Anyone who can make it should come. It will be fun.

You guys should dress up as James, or another prick from the series. I doubt I’ll watch it, I might just get it later or learn how bad it was from you guys and whoever else.

  3. Snow White Queen on 9 November 2008, 23:57 said:

I’d love to come, but hey, travel prices suck. I’ve also been attempting to save money to visit my best friends across the country, which would be even MORE expensive, so yeah.

My family knows how much I hate Twilight, so asking to hitch a ride to the theaters to see it would doubtless seem a bit hypocritical to them, as well as a waste of money.

I might watch it over the net though!

  4. Snow White Queen on 9 November 2008, 23:59 said:

In addition, I’d like to request either a review or a chat spork? (A chat spork might be hard to do with a movie you watch in theaters though, huh?)

  5. SlyShy on 10 November 2008, 00:32 said:

Heheh. I actually plan on sneaking my laptop into the theater, so I can comment in real time. Also, I’ll have the audio capture on, so you can experience the visceral screams. :P

  6. Snow White Queen on 10 November 2008, 00:46 said:

    Ooh, nice!

  7. Addie on 10 November 2008, 01:10 said:

This is going to be funny …

I’ll probably see it in theaters, with family or friends. Hey, who knows, it might not be half bad. Still melodramatic, though.

  8. Rand on 10 November 2008, 18:50 said:

I may be seeing it; I’m not sure. There isn’t room in a crowded theater for anyone not passionate.
Won’t be able to go to Minnesota though. East coaster.

  9. Snow White Queen on 10 November 2008, 19:46 said:

I bet it’s going to be making millions of dollars no matter how crappy it is.

  10. Addie on 10 November 2008, 19:50 said:

Yeah, probably. There are loads of fans, and loads of people who are just curious. So they’ll go see it and it’ll be a hit.

Hits are not always, necessarily good though. What did you think of the Pirates sequels? I was disappointed.

  11. Snow White Queen on 10 November 2008, 19:54 said:

Yeah, they were pretty bad. There were never supposed to be sequels. They just made them because the first one made money. Apparently, they’re not going to stop until they do stop making money- case in point- PotC four, coming soon to a theater near you.

  12. Addie on 10 November 2008, 20:00 said:

Yeah. Sequels to something that wasn’t built for sequels are always bad. The problem with Pirates was, the first movie left no loose ends. It was complete in itself.

  13. Rand on 11 November 2008, 13:34 said:

Did you know they’re making a fourth one? I forget what it’s called but obviously, its a byproduct of fans duped into thinking the third one would be as good as the first two. I probably won’t see it.

  14. Snow White Queen on 11 November 2008, 13:38 said:

Something about the fountain of youth?

  15. Rand on 11 November 2008, 19:00 said:

That makes no sense though. It’s been, eight? Four? Years? Not to mention Will is now Davy Jones and is SUPPOSED to be ferrying dead people around. That doesn’t leave room for adventure, unless he’s looking to be barnacled.

  16. Virgil on 11 November 2008, 19:33 said:

Would be funny to see Keira Knightley love a barnacled Orlando Bloom.. maybe I might see it after all.

  17. Eragon'sShrink19 on 11 November 2008, 21:20 said:

Hmm… You can’t dress up as other series’ characters, because it wasn’t plagarized (as far as I know)…

    Ooh.

    Ooh!

Es, dress up as a pregnant vampire with a half vampire baby thing. An ode to the final book.

And fake labor during the movie! That would be HILARIOUS.

  18. Eragon'sShrink19 on 11 November 2008, 21:24 said:

And then have a sign attached to saying, “I was impregnated by Edward!”

  19. Kitty on 11 November 2008, 22:55 said:

    Humm, let’s see, Minnesota…

I can’t come, for obvious reasons, most of which involve Minnesota being in a part of the country that happens to be like five bajillion miles from my house. But I’m sure on the first showing there will be some Twilight fantards of California’s own hanging out down here by the theater. Heaven knows I’m not actually going inside the theater with them, that would be suicide, you know?

  20. Jeni on 12 November 2008, 12:33 said:

Elanor, you know you’re coming. I’m gonna drag you out of your house.

(Or at least ask your parents very very nicely to give us a lift).

  21. Eccentric Iconoclast on 12 November 2008, 14:48 said:

I am most certainly coming, although I may have to bring earplugs. I think my brother’s getting dragged along too, he expressed some interest.

Also, we should pick a theater soon, so we can reserve tickets. It’d prolly be too much to ask for the Marcus Theatre in Oakdale, eh? xÞ

I happen to have a way around that.

    It’s called walking. ;)

  23. Rhaego on 12 November 2008, 16:00 said:

I am seeing it, but only because my friends and I are doing a running commentary throughout.

I can’t go to Minnesota though, as I am a poor hillbilly in WV.

  24. SlyShy on 12 November 2008, 18:03 said:

    Hey EI,

Well, if Elanor is going to have any chance of coming, the theater is probably going to be St. Paul. Arranging a theater location is kind of tricky though, because there will be people coming from all over the metropolitan area.

  25. LucyWannabe on 13 November 2008, 11:35 said:

Yeah, definitely can’t come to Minnesota. But I’ll be seeing it here in Florida for the lulz.

  26. Doofy on 13 November 2008, 20:36 said:

I wish I could come sooo bad, but I’m in AZ. :(

  27. Eccentric Iconoclast on 14 November 2008, 18:19 said:

Sorry, Elanor, but I’ve been looking at the public transportation options to the Inver Grove Heights theater and they are nothing short of abysmal on Saturdays. They’re not great for the Oakdale theater either. I think for better public transport, we’re going to have to look at theaters actually within the Cities or very near.

hopefully this can be after 3 as i have to work until 3…i would love to come

Does everyone know each other? I don’t know a single person. Except SWQ. Not even your faces!

  30. Rhaego on 17 November 2008, 21:11 said:

Pfsht…I live in WV, Virgil lives in TX, SWQ lives in CA, and Sly lives in MN.

    I don’t know anyone’s faces either.

    Ah. I see.

  32. Lord Snow on 17 November 2008, 22:22 said:

Haha, no we all don’t know each other personally. Sly and I have known each other IRL for a really long time, otherwise we just know each other over the internet and a lot of us happen to live in Minnesota. :P

  33. Zahano on 18 November 2008, 00:53 said:

Have fun, kids. I argue that there are more exciting things to do in the Twin Cities, but never mind that. Go to an Ethiopian restaurant afterwards. Or Port of Beirut. Yum. If you have the money and have not gorged yourselves on pop and other snacks at the theatre.

  34. SlyShy on 18 November 2008, 00:59 said:

Ooh, Twin Cities has great Ethiopian restaurants indeed. I’m a fan of The Red Sea, because it’s right near my dorm.

  35. Zahano on 19 November 2008, 00:16 said:

Post some photographs of you all in your outfits(or lack thereof) at the theatre on DEM. Might go in the “Members Only” section.

  36. SlyShy on 19 November 2008, 00:34 said:

Haha. I didn’t even bother to buy one of my own shirts, I’m so poor. So I think we will all be pretty normally dressed.

  37. Snow White Queen on 19 November 2008, 00:55 said:

Although, if one of you turned up like a stereotypical vampire with a Transylvanian accent, dripping fake blood everywhere, that would be pretty cool too.

  38. Jeni on 19 November 2008, 22:11 said:

Astoundingly enough I will be in the same clothes I’ve been wearing to meet all the Minneapolians (haha, EI!), because I only have one set of Warm Clothes. x_x

And Cranky gets no creepy pictures. I suggest the ii Facebook. :P

  39. Jeni on 20 November 2008, 20:01 said:

Dammit, can someone buy my Twilight ticket for me, and I’ll pay them back on Saturday?

  40. SlyShy on 20 November 2008, 20:28 said:

Oh, so are you trying to get your ticket ahead of time?

Because I don’t think the theater will be quite full. I can show up to the theater early to get tickets. I have some plans involving hapless Twilight fans.

  41. Jeni on 20 November 2008, 20:47 said:

    I thought we were maybe?

Elanor’s Twilight-fan friends mentioned today that some of the Friday showings were sold out.

But, yeah, I’ll join you in showing up early — it’s not like I have anything else to do all of Saturday. :P

  42. Jeni on 21 November 2008, 13:35 said:

Are we going out for eats after/before Twilight?

Basically, do I need to buy enough groceries to feed myself for Saturday evening? And then make something before I leave.

  43. Zahano on 26 November 2008, 16:51 said:

    Jeni-

    EAT ETHIOPIAN FOOD. DUH.

    Or lefse.
