    Great, thank you!

  2.

I hope people won’t mind if I double post, but I would like to bring up the possibility of bigger avatars?

Methinks this was covered before. Larger avatars = more clutter?

I prefer plain pages, but perhaps we could do a vote or something.

Me too. I like the size of them at the current moment. And the lack of signatures, frankly.

  3.

I think signatures would clash with the overall design.

  4.

Eh, I just have trouble finding stuff that doesn’t get chopped off in weird places. I don’t mind not having signatures either.

Yeah, I think no signatures looks cleaner.. really, they don’t add anything to the forum anyway.

Slightly larger avatars (up to like 40×40 or something at least) I wouldn’t be averse to, though.

  5.

I’m not asking for 100X100 avatars, just something a bit bigger.

But it’s not super important. Just a nice extra, really.

  6.

I have to second the “slightly larger” avatars. They do get cut off oddly…

Eh, I just shrink mine to whatever size they are now.

Just shrink your image on any program, GIMP, Paint, ect.

    And this: http://imgur.com/

  8.

    just google ‘image resize online’

Don’t do the slightly larger avatars. No real point.

Is anybody going to be confused if I change my username to ‘Steph the insert word here‘ every so often? And possibly my avatar?

  9.

Someone probably will. A couple people thought I was a different Devin after I changed mine.

You always change your name on the comments, so… I wouldn’t get confused. Some others might, I suppose. Maybe you could leave it in parentheses so it looks more familiar?

  10.

You always change your name on the comments, so… I wouldn’t get confused.

That’s why I’m assuming I can get away with it. My only constant on II comments is ‘Steph’. And so I’m hoping that will translate to here. Plus, if I keep my profile page relatively the same all the time…

Some others might, I suppose. Maybe you could leave it in parentheses so it looks more familiar?

I could, but I don’t think I will. I may as well just have a crack at it and see what happens.

Thanks for your input, too, Devin.

  11.

@ Devin- why’d you change your name anyhow?

  12.

Something about a role-playing thread and how he time-traveled or something. I can’t remember all of the details and I’m too lazy to browse randomly through the archives looking for it.

  13.

Sly, when are you going to add those cute little smilies again?

  14.

Yeah, this Devin is from the year 20XX, thus the laser eyepatch.

  15.

    And the big “FUTURE” caption.

  16.

    Yeah, can’t forget that one.

  17.

I had an idea. COuld we have a writing-log section in the forums where we go to post our progress, our woes, and our encouragement in turn? It would give us even more of a sense of community.

    (I’m such a good-heart geek.)

  18.

Hmm that might be nice. I’m sure you could just create threads in the writing category called ‘writing quibbles’ or ‘writing victories’ or whatever.

So, look, a critique section already exists. This is for posting your writing.

  19.

Um, not quite what I meant… I didn’t mean actually post any writing per se., just to be like, ‘okay, I made my goal of 2 million words today!’. Stuff like that.

EDIT: No, I think SWQ’s right. Plus, who wants to pay for hosting that garbage? Not me, and probably not you, lol.

  20.

Would anyone be averse to a No Boys Allowed thread? Like, where girls could talk about girly things without the presence of males? And to balance it, a No Girls Allowed thread for the opposite sex, to talk about all things testosterone?

Aaaaaaaaaand this is in the feedback thread… why?

  23.

Sorry, I could have sworn that I was in a different browser tab. That post was meant for Minor Quibbles.

  24.

    You shouldn’t swear.

In response to SMalien’s query, TS has one of those threads, but I think it only really works because there’s quite a big measure of anonymity there. Like, there are usernames, but there are so many people there that you’re usually not too fussed about things.

Over here, however, we all know each other, so the embarrassment potential would be higher.

Not to mention the fact that there are some things you just don’t want to know anyway.

  25.

@ RandomX2: have you tried scrolling down after you press ‘write’?

  26.

I know this has probably already been mentioned before, but I’d like to bring it up again- a link on the forum to the main site would be much appreciated, especially as it goes the other way already.

Scrolling doesn’t appear to have any effect.
    @Swenson: I actually don’t know how to upload images…

Clicking on “Write” makes that whole line disappear, so what I get is:

    Wall (bold)
————————- (space where Write and Refresh used to be disappears)
    ————————-
    1 to 5 of 90

  27.

    I agree with SWQ.

And, Random, maybe Sly just doesn’t like you.

  28.

Okay, so here’s my revolutionary idea…

We have a link to the main site on the forums, and underneath we have a little notice that tells us the latest article. That way we all know when to go.

  29.

    I like it!

  30.

    Awesome!

Now we just have to get SlyShy to do it…

At the very least, I still would like a link to the homepage from the forum… I think Sly said something about that being on his to-do list at some point, actually.

  31.

Does anybody know if once you’ve contributed an article to the main site and have your password and stuff, do you need to go through the submitting process all over again or can you just type up an article and post away?

(By the way, just for Sly’s information, I’ve sworn off trying to spork stuff.)

Just post away. There’s a little bubble menu list on the right side. Switch it from Draft to Live, save, wait a couple, and you’re good and posted. :D

  32.

Awesome. I wasn’t sure if that was allowed. I’m going to go post something in a tick.

  33.

But if you’ve never got anything published, then you have to be accepted by Sly first, right?

    Yes.

  38.

Ok, I’ll take care of that tomorrow.

  39.

Another question for submitting: why can’t I save my article as ‘live’? Is it waiting for a staff member to come and approve it?

There are several tiers of permission levels in the content management system. You get automatically moved up as you contribute more, basically.

And yes, the submission box is no longer working, because I was getting a ridiculous amount of spam through it. :|

    Enough with the lolcats people.

Seriously, very few of them are funny any more, and less of those apply here. They don’t make you look witty, insightful, or clever in the slightest. Stop posting them.

Oh, and enough pointless threads about useless topics. This is why we have Quibbles, Absolutely Random, and Victories. Post your stuff there. Don’t make a thread for any random emotion or idea that pops into your head, please. Threads should be able to have long lives and contribute to everyone as a whole.
