Hey, don't hate the game, hate the dimwit publisher. At any rate, they just added a new playlist called Barebones, which removes killstreaks. It's a noticeable improvement.

Yeah, but they lowered the number of players.

  1.

On one hand, my dad brought home a 46” flatscreen TV out of the blue. On the other, Wipeout HD‘s last update has rendered it unforgiveably choppy, so I can’t actually enjoy it in HD.

At least I’ll be getting Blade Runner on Blu-Ray in about a month.

  2.

    TF2: $6.79
    GTA4: $4.99

Oh, I agree, TP was pathetic in how easy it was. But I guess we’ll just disagree on the color/setting. I really loved the look of the Twilight (especially when you were coming up to the gate from the light world).

The Twilight gates were actually really well done. And although I stand by the fact that TP felt dead to me, I shouldn’t really blame it on the appearance. Hyrule Castle was great in both Twilight and regular style, and Lake Hylia looked amazing (not in Twilight, though). It was a combination of the lack of solid music and lack of difficulty / puzzles. As well as the wasted space, especially in Lake Hylia.

When I remember all the small, individual aspects of the game it seems really great; there’s an ice mountain, lake / volcano / forest / temple / etc levels, the golden wolf and a lot of cool, small things. But it didn’t seem to really come together for me. Bad luck, I guess.

On a random note for anyone that plays Brawl, some really awesome hacks are coming out.

Only girls play MW2! Haw! Take that, EA and Infinity Ward!

I thought TP was a lot like WoW. The dungeon design could be exceedingly clever, but it just wasn’t hard enough.

    O.o EA didn’t make MW2…

Anyways, after seeing all of the E3 conferences, I think Sony won. Kinect was the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen and I never think anything the Wii has is at all interesting.

I just finished Red Dead Redemption. Good game, but the last two hours were stupid. Now I think I’ll play Half-Life Two, since Puppet and Sly forced my to watch Freeman’s Mind.

XD I also hate Activision. My views on EA seem to be in an upward swing, however. They keep buying out studios, but instead of just taking over and making crappy games, it seems those studios just have more money and make more games.

SS2 is awesome. Geez, I can’t believe that game is eleven years old.

Smart people on the interwebs have upgraded the visuals (it shipped with fairly low-res textures and extremely low-poly models, even for its age) and I believe I’ve read of ways to run it in higher resolutions than the 1024×768 it was limited to. There’s a game that deserves another playthrough for sure. I only ever got a few hours into its bastard heir Bioshock 1, despite it looking great.

  14.

I may give SS2 a go after I finish… Portal. Yeah, this is the summer of years behind. That said, Portal seems cool so far, and it makes me feel smart for solving simple puzzles, which I enjoy.

Yeah, I knew they would eventually. I just want to enjoy easy bliss while I still have it.

Yay, I beat the story mode. Sadly, the most difficult “puzzle” was where there are those five elevating things and you’re just supposed to ride one up and shoot a portal into the little hall at the top and then shoot one into the wall in the bottom and walk up there… since I’m a moron, it didn’t occur to me to just shoot one up there. I spent about fifteen minutes trying to launch myself in sideways from every available angle. Damn I’m dumb.

Ah, I wasn’t alone then. That close to the end of the game and I still wasn’t thinking with portals!

  15.

It just looks so complicated for such a simple solution.

Another dumb thing I did was shooting for the fewest portals on Chamber 13, and rather than doing it the easy way(throw the box onto the lower switch, stand on the upper switch, fire a portal past the locking door) which I didn’t think of…

I carried the box down to the lower switch, used it to deflect that little electric thing until it hit the platform activator, then I jumped across to the ledge outside the locking door, set the box down, jumped off it onto a tiny protruding panel, and off that onto the platform with the second box. Then I just dropped a portal along the wall that led back up to the top switch and went back down.

    Way, WAY too much work.

Lately I've been obsessing over League of Legends, it's a very solid, balanced, and skill-based team focused game and there is nothing quite as much fun as playing and coordinating with a group of friends in the same room. For single player games I recently tried Mirror's Edge, but was disappointed - the game reached a high point on the second level but faltered ever since and the jumping puzzles became a little obnoxious and finicky by the end - especially since there were many times where your character could be just the tiniest bit off but their hands wouldn't grab it and every failure was awarded with either death or having to do the complex jumping puzzles to get back to the top - fps and platforming really don't mix well (although there were some good bits, like the ability to slide under objects, leap over fences, and things like that would be welcome in other games). Splinter Cell Conviction was good but the story felt convuluted as the villain clearly didn't know how politics works (you don't get into presidency by assassinating the old one) and it was virtually impossible to get through the game without killing everyone you came across (much more of an emphasis on combat in this version) and the lack of multiplayer was a shame because it didn't have much replay value :(

After I inverted the mouse and went in circles for about twenty minutes, I sort of got it, but ended up spending the rest of the time getting lost. From what I’ve read the demo’s pretty linear, but I have problems with direction in virtually every game I play.

@Swenson: I’m not a big fan of horror movies, but I love writing and reading scary stories. I do like horror that’s creepy and atmospheric, but the gory/A SKELETON POPPED OUT jump scare stuff doesn’t really interest me.

Also, I’ve come to the conclusion that I am irredeemably horrible at fighting games.
