I did like Mr Universe, admittedly. His robot wife was creepy, yet kinda sweet in a strange way. One-sidedly sweet.

While Serenity was cool I’d rather not consider it canon because of what happens.. rather just pick up where the show left off.

I just watched Serenity - not the movie, the pilot to Firefly.

    Holy freaking shit.

I've heard a lot about Firefly, way too goddamned much if you ask me. I figured the show was solid, but nowhere near as good as people hyped it up to be. I don't think I've ever been so delighted to be completely wrong.

Yeah, its too bad the a##holes a Fox decided to show the real pilot when the series was going off the air. All the suspense was gone. Not that Train Job was bad, but they had to cram in so much exposition that they couldn’t focus on the story.

I just watched Serenity (the pilot), too, and…

Well, I’ve sort of been in a sci-fi mood lately, but I really don’t like most of it… except Doctor Who and Star Wars. But this.... this was amazing! I am, of course, going to watch all the episodes in the proper order (not whatever screwed up order Fox showed them in), and… yeah. It was awesome!

    Uh,

    HELL YEAH.

  4.

A small collection of my favorite quotes from “War Stories,” because it is the best episode:

Zoë: Preacher, don’t the Bible have some pretty specific things to say about killin’?
Book: Quite specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps.

Wash: I mean, I’m the one that she swore to love, honor, and obey.
Mal: Listen – She swore to obey?
Wash: Well, no. Not… But that’s just my point. You she obeys! She obeys you. There’s obeying going on right under my nose!

Mal: You’re making out like Zoe just blindly follows my every word, and that ain’t true.
    Wash: Sure it is.
Mal: Not so. There have been plenty of orders of mine she didn’t obey.
    Wash: Name one!
    Mal: She married you!

Incidentally, at my theater place we were talking about people who talk during our shows, and I said “There is a special circle in hell they keep for child molesters and people who talk at the theater.” I’m officially a geek.

    I love you.

Wash: Hey, I’ve been in a firefight before. Well, I was in a fire once. Actually, I was fired from a fry cook opportunity…I can handle myself.

Zoe: I understand. We have no choice. Take me, sir. Take me hard.
Jayne: Well, somethin’ about that is just downright unsettlin’.

You have to give credit where its due. No one else wanted the show, and Fox gave it a chance. As much as I hate them for running them out of order and in shitty timeslots against stronger shows on other networks, they did air it.

Then in Heart of Gold, she says all that stuff about wondering whether she should have sex with some of the guy whores because nobody else is giving her any. Other than that, she is adorable, but… well. Okay, I didn’t lose all respect for her. That was a slight exaggeration on my part. But I did lose some.

Yeah, Willow pretty much summed up her whole engines thing and why she picked the guy.

I need to re-watch Heart of Gold, but I think that comment about the guy whores is more aimed at getting Simon’s attention than any actually desire to go after one of the whores.

Inara, well, I like her, but she’s definitely got a darker side at times, although it’s only hinted at. [See the WMG theories on TvTropes for a little more dissection of her past]
