Unfinished Sympathy by Massive Attack
I was thinking about auditioning for a choir, but then I realized that I probably wouldn’t like the music much…but I miss singing in an ensemble of some kind. I wish I could just join some awesome band but of course I don’t know anyone in one- at least anyone who’d be looking for someone with my kind of voice.
Being in a band owns. Nothing better in the world

there are no races to be run
there are no numbers left to be won
everybody’s down
we pulled each other down
there never was a truth
to be found
we are all are bigots
filled with hatred
we release our poison
Why do people have to chop onions right when I’m watching this clip?
I clicked on it, saw what it was, and quickly clicked away.
Never watching that again.
I don’t usually like rap at all but this song is really powerful
I wish I knew how to post links with this god-forsaken forum code
Underneath the comment box, make sure that the ‘Textile’ option is selected. The (Help) button gives you a guide on how to use the forum code. There’s also the FAQ thread with its handy guide to using the Textile code and a bunch of other stuff.
Nossus:

It doesn’t work.
It doesn’t work.
Come to think of it, it does take an insanely long time to load… I haven’t been able to open the Help page for ages.
Wasn’t sure if to put this in movie thread or music thread.
Suddenly
I have mixed feelings about this song.
Currently listening to Can’t Hold us by Macklemore, who is currently my favourite artist on the radio
Sunglasses by Hikaru Utada
Quite possibly my favorite song of all time.
I swear I’m not going crazy, but I cannot find a song I’m trying to find on Youtube that I know I found easily before.
So a couple years back, I saw the Spider-man musical in New York. It’s got all original music, and there is a very specific theme that’s the Spider-man-being-all-heroic theme. I know I listened to it again on Youtube after I got home, because I rather liked it (one of the few parts of the musical I unequivocally enjoyed).
And now I cannot find it anywhere. I don’t remember the name, but every time I try to search for it, I just keep finding “Rise Above”, which although quite nice, is definitely not what I’m looking for! I checked the track listings of the soundtrack on iTunes, nothing seems to match. I found my playbill, for crying out loud, and I still can’t figure out what the song is! It might be called “Turn off the Dark”, which is the musical’s title, but I have tried everything I can think of with a sleep-deprived 1 AM brain, and I cannot find it at all. Alternately, it might be called “Spider-man!”, but that’s even harder to look for.
I give up. I swear it exists, though. I am definitely not crazy.
Sweet Life by Frank Ocean
Man, Channel ORANGE is such a good album.

You SAW that thing?
Why would you do that to yourself?
It’s called Spider-man Turn off the Dark, btw, and you can get yourself a concept cast recording
I’ve been listening to ‘This Love’ when I feel particularly frustrated with studying. It’s really therapeutic, actually.
Anything by Pantera is therapeutic :)
@IK – my sister and I and a friend were going to New York City. My sister and I were like, so let’s see a show on Broadway, because we did the last time we were there. I didn’t want to bring it up, but my sister gives me this sidelong look and goes… so you hear about that Spider-man musical?
Truth be told, all three of us were openly going hoping to see an accident. :P There was not on that night, but I will tell you this—that musical was loads of fun. The first half was boring, it was somewhat nonsensical, it was obviously multiple scripts mushed together, it was undeniably a trainwreck… but an interesting trainwreck, not the tragic kind.
Babel by Massive Attack
Massive Attack is like musical ecstasy.
I don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion, but my top three Massive Attack albums are Heligoland > Blue Lines > Mezzanine. What do you think, Puppet?
I need to relisten to Mezzanine, but I pretty much agree with you. Blue Lines is an excellent album, and I absolutely love Unfinished Sympathy, but I prefer the overall tone and mood of Heligoland.
I’ve wanted to listen to Massive Attack, but I never know where to begin. Suggestions?
I dunno. I would just look up some of their songs on YouTube and see if you like them. Teardrop, Splitting the Atom, Unfinished Sympathy and Paradise Circus are the ones that come to mind.
On another note, I’m listening to Toxic by Britney Spears (I’m a sucker for well produced songs/albums). Kind of crazy to think that In the Zone was released 10 years ago now. 2003 still doesn’t seem like that long ago.
^ Makes me feel old.
2003 still doesn’t seem like that long ago.
Milkshake anyone?
I started learning kung fu in 2003. For me, it feels like a LONG time ago.
I finished my freshman year of high school in 2003. That does feel like a long time ago.
I was born in 2003.
You’re an incredibly cynical 10-year-old, Nossus.
Re-listening to The Beautiful Letdown by Switchfoot. This was my favorite album when I was younger. I still love it just as much all those years ago.
Bedroom Hymns by Florence and the Machine. I LOVE THIS CHORUS SO MUCH.
I love Cure for Optimism
Re-listening to The Beautiful Letdown by Switchfoot. This was my favorite album when I was younger. I still love it just as much all those years ago
Oh my god, that was my favourite when I was younger, too. I like it a lot less now.
Severance by Dead Can Dance.
This album owns.
^ Is that from the newest album? I’ve been meaning to listen to it.
No. It’s like their third or fourth album. Serpent’s Egg.
I don’t know much about their albums- I just found them on YouTube and started through individual songs.
They’re quite good.
^ Agreed. I got a little too excited when I heard Lisa Gerrard in the Man of Steel trailer, and I don’t even care about Superman.
Listen to The Serpent’s Egg, it’s a daisy
Mathematics by Mos Def
Also, The 18th Letter by Rakim is legit as hell.
A Complete History Of The Soviet Union Through The Eyes Of A Humble Worker, Arranged To The Melody Of Tetris by Pig With The Face Of A Boy.
N.Y. State of Mind by Nas
Awwww yisss.
Oh my gods,“Wizard In Rock” by Kerry Ellis is AWESOME.
Basically she’s taken the music from Wicked the musical, and remixed them into rock songs.
My Favorite Things by John Coltrane
One of my favorite songs of all time. Classic.
Listening to Black Sabbath’s new album
How is it?
Yeah, I’m kinda curious, too. Haven’t checked it out myself.
It’s pretty decent, actually. I’m not completely floored by it or anything, but it’s worth a listen.
My newest band, The Hound, recorded a demo in my attic and it’s available to listen right here: https://soundcloud.com/thehoundkzoo
Give it a spin. (I play guitar on it)
Freaking awesome. Just wish I could have seen it live.
eeeeeeexcellent
jelly
I really shouldn’t be spending the money, but I didn’t go to the Stones or Aerosmith this month so….
I really want to see Sabbath but can’t afford it
I’m looking forward to it; it’s two days after my 21st birthday, too. :D
I really want to see Sabbath but can’t afford it
Niiiiiiice. I don’t know whether I can afford tickets either. Also, I have no one to go with, and I would rather not go to a huge concert like that by myself.
Also, Nossus, I like your band’s sound. It seems a bit retro, but that’s never a bad thing in my book!
Niiiiiiice. I don’t know whether I can afford tickets either. Also, I have no one to go with, and I would rather not go to a huge concert like that by myself.
I’m going with my little brother. It counts as his graduation gift. He’s my excuse to go to concerts concert buddy.
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night has such a kickass soundtrack.
I’m listening to The Evens, who I saw last night. I talked to Ian Mackaye for like 10 seconds and bought these CDs from him, was great. He’s my hero.
Stuck the Sabbath ticket in my brother’s graduation card. he was excited. Dad was annoyed, and Mom asked if they were satanic…..
Mom asked if they were satanic
Oh goodness. How did you explain that one?
Oh goodness. How did you explain that one?
I was like “What? no.”
She still doesn’t seem to like the idea. Neither does Dad. But there’s no way they are talking me out of this one, so….
Black Sabbath is not a Satanic band. They all wear crucifixes and they even have an anti-atheist song (After Forever)
Black Sabbath is not a Satanic band. They all wear crucifixes and they even have an anti-atheist song (After Forever)
Well, I know that. And you know that….but my parents wouldn’t be bothered to actually listen to them.
I’m sorry, that sucks. My dad is similar (except he doesn’t oppose metal on religious grounds, more that he doesn’t consider it ‘real music’) but he’s never bothered to prevent us from going to a concert- mostly because my mom likes to come with us. :D
Awesome
That is correct, Potato Man. We just tend to get distracted.
Drinking Again — Dinah Washington
Ms Mr- Hurricane Chvrches Remix
Modern indie, but with an 80’s sound to them in my opinion.
As well as the entire Filter album: Title Record
Ah, I had just looked into Ms Mr’s songs after seeing a couple on Tumblr. That’s a pretty cool remix.
Meanwhile, I’ve been listening to the album Ripely Pine by Lady Lamb the Beekeeper (stage name of Aly Spaltro). Some of the more straight-up folk songs fall flat, in my opinion, but when she gets more rock-inspiration or goes off in her own direction, it’s incredible. I really recommend listening to Crane Your Neck, at least.
I love Shawshank Redemption as a movie, but I also love the main theme
Sigh No More from Whedon’s version of Much Ado About Nothing :D
I saw David Byrne last night
A Change Is Gonna Come — Sam Cooke
this great new Pearl Jam song, check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=DhODYyZVL6Y
Whoa, sounds kind of punk. Different, but Eddie Vedder sounds as great as ever.
A lot of their stuff is punky.
Well, I don’t listen to much Pearl Jam. I guess I let my perception be overly influenced by their earlier stuff. (But I really should listen to more Pearl Jam.)
A lot of their early stuff is punky too. Check these punky tunes out:
Sonic Reducer (1992)(Dead Boys Cover)
Spin the Black Circle (1994)
Lukin (1996)
Brain of J (1998)
Supersonic (2009) (yeah I skipped over a decade when they weren’t making great music)
Olé (2011)
Yeah I’m a pretty big pearl jam fan… they’ve got some real weird shit if you dig around.
why would you post that taku
oh my god I remember that movie why must you do this to me
Ready to Die by The Notorious B.I.G.
Great album.
Garfunkel and Oates are awesome.
Big warning for language and (im)mature themes. NOT safe for general speakers (non-earplug/headphone) consumption.
Pregnant Women Are Smug
This Party Took A Turn For The Douche
The Loophole

I Don’t Know Who You Are
My Apartment’s very lean Without You This one’s very sweet and a bit sad, it’s the sort of song they might have had on Scrubs when JD ands Elliot split up.
Alien Ant Farm’s rendition of Michael Jackson’s ‘Smooth Criminal’ is pretty good, much better than some covers I’ve heard.
Tupac – I Ain’t Mad At Cha
