Sir Joseph’s Barge is Seen, HMS Pinafore
If I Ever Feel Better by Phoenix
o_O
I was about to post that …
Strange Talk – Climbing Walls
Movin’ on without you by Utada Hikaru
Crazy Chocobo by ShootieHG. Awesome!
When Did Your Heart Go Missing? by Rooney
Pepper, by the wonderfully named Butthole Surfers.
[I’ve had that song in my iTunes for nearly a month and only just realized what the name was. facepalm
Graffiti6 – Colours
This is such a good song.
Human by The Killers
That’s a good one, RV! Have you seen the Interpretive Dance of it?
speaking of which, Davids Armand and Natalie Imbruglia at the Secret Policeperson’s Ball.
Haha, that just made my day, Taku! :D
I Gave You All by Mumford and Sons
The Schindler’s List Theme
It’s so beautiful but so sad
Atlas Genius – Trojans
What’s Left of the Flag – Flogging Molly
Making the List, the Schindler’s List Soundtrack
I can’t get the chosus of Legfo House out of my head. For some reason, it got stuck even worse when I saw the official video on Youtube and saw that Rupert Grint was lip-synching it.
Somebody I Used To Know by Goyte is very, very stuck in my head. F-ing xylophone.
I am attempting to replace it with Volare, by the Gipsy Kings. God I love this song.
Modern Mystery by Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin
Unchain the Rain by Altaria (sadly not actually Pokemon-related).
Payphone by Maroon 5.
These Foolish Things — Ella Fitzgerald
THE QUEEN!
Lights by Ellie Goulding
‘Cosmic Love’ by Florence and the Machine
Second Letter, from the musical Passion
M83 – We Own the Sky
5 Years Time by Noah and the Whale
집 by Tablo. Even if I didn’t love his music, which I do, I would still love the man because of this jewel in his Wikipedia entry: “...he ceased to play violin as he was dismissed from the orchestra after suddenly playing the soundtrack of Jurassic Park while the orchestra was playing Brandenburg Concerto No.3 in a concert.”
Ahaha, that is great.
The Great Curve by Talking Heads
0330 by… um, 2AM? I think it’s by 2AM. They said that this song is best played at 3am in the morning. I’m going to find out if this statement is true or not soon enough. :)
Incubus – Wish You Were Here
Listening to the iTunes previews of the Mirror’s Edge soundtrack.
I must buy this.
Spike on a Rail from the Bastion soundtrack.
Heart in a Cage by The Strokes
Just got the Red vs. Blue seasons 8 and 9 soundtrack on iTunes and have been listening to it nonstop.
Beach House – Lazuli
On the Other Side by The Strokes
Skid Row, Little Shop of Horrors
Bought that Mirror’s Edge soundtrack.
SO MUCH AWESOME.
@Sen:
Is the new album actually as good as the Internet in general seems to think? I really liked a few songs on Teen Dream, but the rest of it didn’t stand out to me.
I really want to say yes, ‘cause I love their sound so much. :D
But there were only a few that stood out, like Myth and Lazuli. They’re both just gorgeous. The others aren’t bad at all. It’s just that the rest kind of blurred together. There’s just about three or four I’d listen to non-stop. The others are bearable because I find the band pretty distinct to begin with so it’s easy to still appreciate their style with whichever track. But yeah, I think you’d probably have a hard time completely loving the entire album. And it’s a shame, seeing how good the best of its tracks are…
When the Sun Goes Down by Arctic Monkeys
Hmmm, can’t decide whether I like Fiona Apple’s newest album. I think it’ll take multiple listens for me to really get into it.
My god this is so pretty.
Every time I drive around listening to my favourite musicals, I always feel bad that I can’t sing along with any female parts. I mean, I don’t sing very well to begin with. And really there aren’t many female parts I’d even want to play.
grump grump grump
Spiegel im Spiegel
Wow, that is really nice.
Every time I listen to the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack, I am yet again struck with raging jealousy for Christine’s voice. Some of those songs have just such an incredible range, and yet her voice still sounds beautiful!
I’m not a big opera fan, but I am unconditionally jealous of opera singers for that reason. They just have the most amazing voices ever. And then I turn on the radio and listen to some awful autotuned pop singer and it’s just not the same at all…
Fantastic Baby – Big Bang.
Normally I wouldn’t listen to this kind of song, but it’s so weird and both the MV and the song itself somehow stays in my mind for a long time. I just can’t seem to get it out of my head, but at the same time, it’s not stuck in my head. Maybe it’s more like I can’t forget it?
Like I said, it’s a weird song.
@Willow: My personal favorite is Fur Alina. Arvo Part’s piano works are so pretty! I also like Fratres for piano and cello, the one with the ‘There Will Be Blood’ picture on it.
Deadwing- Porcupine Tree
It’s Not You It’s Me by Coconut Records
Somebody That I Used to Know, Gotye
omg lyke guys I’m listening to lyke popular music wat is diss?
Honestly though I had no idea this song/artist even existed until I saw the Todd in the Shadows review. And I really think I like this guy’s music.
Fantastic Baby – Big Bang
Every time I hear TOP’s rap in that song I get weak at the knees.
TRAP by MEG
Cool song. Odd video.
Cool song. Odd video.
Yeah, right now the “trend” in j/kpop seems to be, “Let’s see how ridiculous we can make our music videos!” I don’t know if they’ve been inspired by Lady Gaga or what, but some of the newer MVs are just plain weird.
Oh please, Jpop has always had weird videos, as far as I recall. Or at least all the Jpop music videos I watched in high school were seriously bizarre.
On the other hand, my friend who was always showing me them may have just deliberately been showing me the weird ones…
Awolnation – Sail.
It’s … bizarrely awesome.
I LOVE THAT SONG
Seeing Pirates of Penzance today!
(It’s an opera. thus this post goes in this thread.)
Hopefully it’ll be good.
I’ll TRY not to sing along.
Oooh, I’m jealous.
Operetta. There’s more talking than in a real opera.
Operetta. There’s more talking than in a real opera.
Oh, whatever.
Actually, yeah, I’m not a fan of SRS OPERA at all. It’s not that I hate it being through sung, but I just can’t really take it seriously.
Oooh, I’m jealous.
YOU SHOULD BE.
So the room they performed in was a big open space (with a bar, though I’m not 21 so I can’t drink), and a couple tables. There were also benches (and a dining area), but mostly we sat/stood on the floor. Even if you sat at a table though, sometimes the actors would make you get out of the way so they could sing/dance on the table (they danced on the bar, too.)
The cast was pretty small, just ten people, and the actors all played instruments. Before the show they through beach balls around and sang famous/popular songs and encouraged the audience to sing along. During the show, they would often sing directly at you (or play the harmonica at you. That happened to me.)
I wore my Kermit the Frog hat and the Major General patted me on the head as he walked by (and one of the pirates played with the eyes on top).
The score was a bit modernized, but not so much that I couldn’t recognize it (meaning it didn’t annoy me).
Basically it was a lot of fun and I really want to see if I can catch the other performance tomorrow.
It was so much fun.
Operetta. There’s more talking than in a real opera.
Ah. So, +1 for Pirates of Penzance then?
Ah. So, +1 for Pirates of Penzance then?
Well, Les Miserables doesn’t have any spoken dialogue and it’s still awesome (it’s not an opera, though.)
Of course, when ANYTHING is through sung there are often lyrical problems…more painful rhymes sometimes.
(it’s not an opera, though.)
Says who? I thought it was called a ‘rock opera’, like JC Superstar and Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds.
Says who? I thought it was called a ‘rock opera’, like JC Superstar and Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds.
Les Mis?
It’s operatic, sure.
Though I thought a rock opera needed to include….rock elements? I mean, I love both Superstar AND Les Mis, but musically, they don’t really have much in common.
Considering that opera was the Italian attempt to reinvent the ancient Greek Tragedies, I’d say it doesn’t have much in common with traditional opera, either. Doesn’t mean it’s not.
I mean, c’mon. Everybody knows that Javert ROCKS.
I mean, c’mon. Everybody knows that Javert ROCKS.
Truer words were never spoken.
brb melting.
Silversun Pickups – Lazy Eye
I’ve fallen madly in love with Alkaline Trio.
Orchestra Lunatica – Through Tears of Joy
Never has a song title been so perfectly appropriate.
Panic by Caravan Palace
Pixies – Where Is My Mind
I love that song, Sen! Have you heard Gigantic by them? That one’s my favourite. :D
Fake Tales of San Francisco by Arctic Monkeys
I love that song
Cool. I like another version of it slightly better. Yoav did one with Emily Browning. Totally different. But very very beautiful. I should give Gigantic a listen ‘cause I haven’t heard that one yet.
We Didn’t Start the Fire, Billy Joel
Nice Piece of Art – FM Static
Smooth Criminal on the violin by David Garrett. How did I not know this existed before today?! It’s awesome!
The Dirty Side of the Street by Caravan Palace
Alix Perez & Sabre – Solitary Native
North By North by Faded Paper Figures
Pretty much everything by 2NE1.
The MV for I Am the Best is completely ridiculous and therefore buckets of fun.
Anyway I am listening to Janelle Monae. I love her music, plus she’s from Kansas City which is a double plus since cool people from Kansas City never get recognized (besides Don Cheadle).

inorite? 8D
2NE1 is definitely one of my favorite groups/bands now. When I first looked 2NE1 up I didn’t like them very much, but they’ve really grown on me.
Also, “Lollipop” feat. Big Bang is the best thing ever.
I’ll Make a Man Out of You, from Mulan.
^I loved that song!
“Good Time,” by Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen.
Crystal Castles – Not In Love
Lasso by Phoenix
Woo, got tickets for me and my brother to see The Who this November. :D
Would it Matter—Skillet
Jerk It Out by Caesars
Even though it has a similar name to a CClare book, I’m rather smitten with Rush’s Clockwork Angels. The whole album’s like a musical novel, if that makes sense.
You Found Me—the Fray.
Minoan, Rush is pretty amazing no matter what, so I can see why you’d think that. ;)
Skeleton Key by Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s
Into the Open Air—Julie Fowlis, from the Brave soundtrack.
Phaeleh – Afterglow
We Will Rock You, Queen
