Romeo Responds to Taylor Swift by Moneyshot Cosmonauts. Because apparently Taylor Swift has a worse understanding of Romeo & Juliet than Smeyer.
^^Haha.
I’m trying to get into new Evanescence…Amy’s voice is as great as ever, but I’m just not falling in love with the music for some reason. It doesn’t feel like anything new or interesting. I don’t know, maybe it’ll grow on me.
I got up in the middle of the night last night, so I listened to The Memory of Trees (but veeeery quietly so as not to wake my friend!). I think it helped in putting me back to sleep?
I’d forgotten how much I like Enya. Haha, such a geek :P
Dead Hearts by Stars
Anyone want to join me in an internet drunken sing along to “Bastards of Young” by the Replacements?
Across the Sea by Alex Day
Walk Away by Five Finger Deathpunch
Everchanging by Rise Against.
Off their first album, this is such an awesome warm-hearted, bittersweet falling-leaves anthem. I’ve listened to it about twenty times in a row so far.
Sometimes you wanna go
Where everybody knows your name
And they’re always glad you came
You wanna be where you can see
Our troubles are all the same,
You wanna be where everybody knows your name.
An IMPOSSIBLY cheerful VSQ cover of Third Eye Blind. You must all listen to this song because it is so happy and bouncy.
Found listening to music helps me concentrate on math. Lately, I’ve been listening to The Postal Service, Death Cab for Cutie, Scissors for Lefty, Debussy and Mass Effect 2 club music (hell yeah :P).
The Longest Time, Billy Joel
Oh my god, The Rocky Road to Dublin is amazing! Ireland, you’ve amazed me again!
Water Shows the Hidden Heart by Enya
I’ve been listening to the Digital soundtrack for hours now. Chip music is surprisingly productivity-conducive.
The “Tonight Tonight” song that sansa complained about might be the recent one by Hot Chelle Rae, although said song is pretty nice, IMO.
If you really want something that’s bad enough to give you violent urges, try Selena Gomez.
....ohh, that was harsh, even for me. XD
Because apparently Taylor Swift has a worse understanding of Romeo & Juliet than Smeyer.
Yes. Yes, she does.
And that’s saying something.
Also, I recently got “American Pie”.
The original version.
The original original version.
The Don Mclean version.
The 8-minutes-long version.
I love it to death.
I’m finally getting into Agua de Annique, which is the solo project of the ex-Gathering vocalist. It’s so damn catchy!
@ Klutor: that would be the version to listen to.
Of course it is.
It’s brilliant.
Do you have it, by any chance?
I have it somewhere. Probably.
^Cool.
Ecstacy of Gold by Ennio Morricone (remixed, of course)
This right here is now my theme song.
Praise You – Fatboy Slim
Pure, distilled late-‘90s ‘tude – and impossibly catchy to boot.
Charlie Brown by Coldplay
The studio where I work had the drummer from Lynyrd Skynyrd come in and record yesterday (Artemis Pyle, who survived the plane crash in ’77). He has an insanely awesome drum kit, and man can he play that thing!
^ EVERY WORD OF THIS POST IS EXPLODING WITH CONCENTRATED AWESOME.
Paparazzi, Lady Gaga. The acoustic version.
Storytime by Nightwish
Storytime by Nightwish
Is that new? If it is, how is it?
SWEET MOTHER OF FUCKING GOD.
I just heard The Lazy Song and saw part of the video, courtesy of a Todd in the Shadows Pop Song Review.
My god it is even worse than I thought possible. BRUNO MARS NEEDS A PUNCH IN THE FACE.
@SWG Pretty good.
@Willow: That’s why I love you. :D
NO WILLOW!
WE MUST BURN HIM.
WE MUST GATHER THE ASHES, MIX THEM WITH THE TAIL HAIR OF A DEAD WHIMSICORACAL PIG, TAPDANCE UPON THEM, GATHER THEM UP ONCE MORE AND THEN SCATTER THEM INTO FIVE OF THE FOUR WINDS.
YES. THAT IS WHAT WE MUST DO.
If anyone is looking for a good pop/rock band, Agua de Annique is pretty awesome. Normally I don’t go for this kind of stuff, but for some reason I really like this group. Maybe it’s because I have a girl-crush on the singer.
Fireflies by Owl City. I mean, the environmental message is so- so powerful
I hope you’re somehow kidding. >.> I hated this song as it was, and now you tell me it’s really one of those preachy Greenpeace things?
Well, have you seen the video?
I’m a treehugger, so that’s a GOOD thing. Right?
Do they have Greenpeace overseas, or are you from NZ?
Nah, I’m from America. I like environmentalism as in don’t turn Earth into a giant parking lot. I’m not fond of radical environmentalism (the flavor that tells me I need to kill myself for the good of the planet), I think green products are generally a waste of time, I cordially disagree with PETA. So we may or may not be in opposition.
I honestly couldn’t make it all the way through. I’m a hardcore/alt-metal/punk kid, meself, so feel free to make fun of me.
I cordially disagree with PETA
How is that possible? It’s just too easy to make fun of them. For god’s sake, they seriously attempted to have fish renamed sea kittens!
I was being cordial.
In the sense in which “cordial” means “I’m really their viciously critical enemy but I am being civil and Victorian”.
XD
I approve.
I’m a hardcore/alt-metal/punk kid, meself, so feel free to make fun of me.
What kind of stuff do you like? I love metal myself, as well as alternative.
Older AFI, Rise Against, Linkin Park, Opeth, Nightwish, Rage Against the Machine, POD, Pennywise, Atreyu, Bad Religion, Breaking Benjamin, Offspring. I think that’s all of them.
I am now tuned to the classical station. Is shameless hipster
Opeth
OH MY GOD I LOVE YOU FOREVER. They are one of my favorite bands! I saw them live a few years ago and it was absolutely an amazing concert. Have you ever heard Katatonia? If you like Damnation I would recommend their newer albums. Plus, the vocalists are apparently best friends, which I think is adorable. They were touring last month together, but I wasn’t able to get in because I’m under 18 by a few months. I’m still mad.
Yeah, I’m kind of nuts about Opeth. :D
I am now tuned to the classical station
I’m right with you- Rachmaninoff- Piano Sonata No.2 in B flat minor. But do hipsters even like classical?
They like everything except what they think other people like, except those people are hipsters so they dislike that and then pretty soon it is cool to like anything and everything and everybody will be hipsters and there will be no levels of fashionable hobbies.
It’s currently someone’s “Gypsy Melodies.” In A Minor.
They like everything except what they think other people like
Um, I don’t think it’s exactly groundbreaking to consider Bach great music, considering they’ve been doing it since the Baroque era, but okay. I don’t understand hipsters.
Neither do I.
I like Linkin Park’s older, rap/electro stuff better than their newer stuff. Like Session, and Hit the Floor. I also like Era’s Ameno, randomly.
Someone on cracked explained hipsters thusly:
“If you, for example, wear Woody Allen glasses – because you think they look cool – you’re just a person who wears Woody Allen glasses. But if you wear Woody Allen glasses because you think they look stupid, you’re a hipster.”
So basically they do everything “ironically”.
Oh, so I’m not a hipster. Thank goodness.
BM: Meteora was their best album, if you ask me – I prefer the more melodic stuff to the pure grind/industrial, though. I liked Thousand Suns, but it was a different band.
Imagine by Herman Cain
Todd in the Shadows is a bad, bad man. Why? Here’s the songs currently stuck in my head. Yes, plural. SONGS. As soon as one stops playing on loop, another starts. Siiiiiiigh.
Whatcha Say (Jason Derulo)
Animal (Neon Trees)
Somebody Told Me (The Killers)
Teenage Dream (Katy Perry)
I Got A Feeling (The goddamn Black Eyed Peas)
Moves Like Jagger (Maroon 5)
Single Ladies (Beyonce)
You Belong With Me (Taylor Swift)
Apocalyptica. Cellos have never been so metal.
Willow- Hmm, that’s very top forty of you.
Don’t You Want Me. Its some eighties pop song that is frickin stuck in my head. It’s a serious earworm.
Weirdly enough, until college I didn’t listen to anything more recent than 1976 or so. I was an Oldies station junkie. But Todd in the Shadows reviews/mentions more recent, hit music. And some of it stuck in my head. Gah.
Sorry to doublepost, guys.
GODDAMMIT TAYLOR SWIFT, NOT AGAIN. HE DOESN’T BELONG WITH YOU, STOP STALKING!
Heh.
I love the early 1960s pop- the Beatles, especially. I Wanna Hold Your Hand is another current earworm. And then late eighties folk pop, like Perfect by Fairground Attraction.
Ninja’d!
All the goodlooking guys are gay.
Actually, that’s offensive to all members of the male gender. And not true.
snerk
You should hear that YT parody of her done by a couple of guys whose handle I can’t recall. It’s the one that’s the Romeo and Juliet song, whatever it’s called, and he sings from “Romeo’s” perspective about changing the locks on his doors and buying a gun. It even rhymes the same way.
Heard that. The guy is a terrible singer, but funny.
@ Inkblot: That sounds epic.
@ BlueMask’s gay comment
Oh, yeah, so not true.
But if he sings, the odds are higher. Sings and dances? Much higher. Sings, dances, AND is attractive? Girl, good luck.
Running joke with my boyfriend is that he was the only straight guy in his high school’s showchoir. I’ve seen pictures.
He isn’t exaggerating….
I’m sorry, but that is hilarious. And I REALLY want to reference Glee.
I sing… >.>
Okay, so my genre of choice is melodic hardcore. I definitely do not dance. And we are not going to discuss that time this girl I liked shanghaied me into DDR when I was twelve.
You owe me a new keyboard and a cup of green tea, thank you.
Wait, if you don’t mind me asking, are you actually straight?
@ Inkblot & Willow: I totally posted a link to that song a while ago. I’m sure it’s in this thread somewhere…
looks Okay, maybe not in this thread, but here’s a link anyway.
And if that doesn’t work, just try Weird Al’s parody. That should work too.
Edit: Damn, that song’s a parody of “Love Story”. Ah well, it’s still funny.
gives green tea
Fresh out of spare keyboards I’m ‘fraid.
Yep. I would have taken that survey thing but for some reason it’s the one thread on II my browser won’t let me into. And now the test results are irrevocably skewed.
Is snickering
Wow. And Inkblot, be not ashamed of DDR. DDR is awesome. Weirdly enough, it’s excellent for practicing footwork. My boyfriend’s martial arts footwork got crazy good when he started playing DDR in high school. Hell, when he visits me, our version of going dancing is heading out to an arcade that has a dance machine.
Did you know that you can get the whole p0 portal here 0rtal 2 soundtrack free?
With an extended Cara mia addio :-)
What is DDR?
My humiliation, your amusement. I live to entertain.
Also, BlueMask, in what range of mountains in New Zealand is your cave? Do you have a spare couch I can sleep on?
Dance Dance Revolution, the stupid thing with the floor mats that every girl I’ve ever met has loved to death at some point in early adolescence. Huge in Japan.
I live in Mount Doom, actually. Once you get used to the lava and charred mutant-hobbit skeletons, its rather picturesque. You can stay in the guest-cave, although I accept no responsibility for missing fingers.
Ooh, that sounds fun.
... say what?
Dance Dance Revolution. It’s fricking AWESOME.
Here’s an example of what the highest difficulty level looks like.
That isn’t a particularly difficult song, though. You can find tons of examples on youtube. Basically, you hit the arrows on the mat with your feet as arrows appear on screen.
EDIT: @Inkblot. Hey, I got into it this past spring, thanks. Courtesy of my boyfriend loaning me his PS2 and his dance mat.
blank stare
Wowzers.
That looks really…hard. But fun. Thanks for the link:)
But PETA made this masterpiece…
Goddamnit, Sansa. I had homework to do an now I must play that.
:3
I beat it….about an hour later.
An hour well spent!
(it was harder than it should be)
But the video on that page takes the fun away from it.
But Neil Young is such a legend! Damm southern man.
Sorry, y’all, I don’t know the slang.
Yankee, then.
Pumped Up Kicks-Foster The People
Helena Beat- Foster the People.
Snap!
This City- Patrick Stump and some other guy. I don’t know if it’s just bad sound quality or if it’s supposed to sound like someone’s clawing at glass plates in the background every time the chorus comes in.
Infected Mushroom – Saeed
Porcupine Tree- Drown With Me
I haven’t been able to get into PT before this point (though I love Opeth and Katatonia, who are good friends with PT) but now I think I may have changed my mind.
Lego House by Ed Sheeran. Featuring Rupert Grint.
Hurts Like Heaven by Coldplay
