In the Wake of Poseidon - King Crimson

Such a soothing song... it sure makes me feel better, and it's a song that helps me to sleep (not because it's boring, never!)

I should listen to King Crimson…they’re progressive metal, aren’t they? I do like progressive.

@SWQ: Very old-school prog, with ten-minute songs and all that good stuff. If you like prog you should at least give them a shot.

I Can Change by LCD Soundsystem

  4.

    ten-minute songs

Ooh yeah, ten-minute songs are great!

  5.
Pilgrims - Van Der Graaf Generator

@SNQ: Yep, King Crimson has lots of lengthy songs. Check out, aside from the obvious must-hear 'In The Court of the Crimson King', the following albums:

♣In The Wake of Poseidon (It features a tribute to Gustav Holst's ''The Planets''. The track is 'The Devil's Triangle', and is based off of 'Mars, The Bringer of War')
    ♣Larks Tongues in Aspic

I’m listening to ‘In the Court of the Crimson King’- I like their singer.

^ I approve of the above.

^^I used that song in an English project junior year. I used it for the part about Lord of Flies.

    Really? Cool!

BTW has anyone listened to Chinese Democracy, what did you think of it?

Lady Gaga’s new video is all new levels of WTFery.

  13.

I believe that statement describes most of what Lady Gaga does.

Am I the only one who thinks that Lady Gaga is a man?

Also, fer goodness sake cover your butt, some women might look good in that leather catsuit/thong get-up, you ma'am are not one of them.
  14.

Am I the only one who thinks that Lady Gaga is a man?

I don’t know, I feel like this is kind of a low blow. It’s like asking if Justin Bieber is a girl. His music is stupid and he sings like one, but it’s not funny anymore.

I didn’t mean to rag on you, Kilgore, it’s just a pet peeve of mine.

  15.
    I was serious mah dear.

I actually like the Beiber a lot more than I used to.
  16.

I don’t get that joke. How exactly does Lady Gaga look like a man?

  17.

I don’t find her remotely attractive, but I don’t think she looks particularly masculine.

  18.

She definitely has a girl’s body, if nothing else, but I think she can definitely be pretty in a more traditional way when she isn’t completely messing around with her freaky side. I suspect that she knows this as well- she appears to be a rather shrewd woman to me, whether you interpret this to be a good thing or a bad thing.

I actually like the Beiber a lot more than I used to.

Completely the opposite for me. Justin Bieber seems to be a nice person, but his music is trite and annoying. At least Lady Gaga uses Hitchcock titles in sexual innuendos.

  19.

Justin Bieber seems to be a nice person

He does. From what I’ve seen of him, he seems very nice, which made me have a little more respect for him even if I don’t like his music.

  20.

Fiona Apple is divine. If Justin Bieber sang like this, maybe I would actually like his music even if he did sound like a girl.

    Megalomania by Muse

  38.

Looks That Kill – Mötley Crue

  39.

    Within Temptation.

I like a few songs by WT, but I found I got bored of their newer stuff. However, Sharon Den Adel has a very sweet voice. Have you listened to Epica or the Gathering? They’re reigning as my favorite Dutch female-fronted bands.

  40.

I got bored of their newer stuff

I only discovered them the other day. What is their new stuff?

Have you listened to Epica or the Gathering?

No – I know their names, but that’s all. I think I’ll check them out sometime, then.:)

  41.

    What is their new stuff?

Well, they have a new album out which I haven’t listened to, but I didn’t really like ‘The Heart of Everything’. Except for ‘Angels’ I also didn’t enjoy ‘The Silent Force’.

I don’t know, with WT it’s always hit and miss for me. I do like ‘Enter’, ‘Mother Earth’, ‘Ice Queen’, ‘Our Farewell’, ‘The Dance’, ‘Angels’, and ‘Frozen’ to some extent.

Hmm…although, the new album ‘The Unforgiving’ looks like a good concept album, which is something I’d be interested in listening to. Who knows, I might be converted to a hardcore WT fan.

  42.

A good fan is aware of the hits and misses, and does not give a damn about second opinions, if they come from the so-called learned people. ;)

    Sails of Charon – Scorpions

  43.

    @SWQ – oh okay.
So what are Epica and Gathering like – also gothic rock?

    @Maese Delta – Truth.

  44.

Epica is symphonic metal, kind of like WT, but with more emphasis on the choir and on metal. Their female singer is really good, their male growler not so much.

The Gathering is a bit of everything, quite honestly. They started out as symphonic rock and ended up somewhere in the alt-rock trip-hop territory. They are one of the few bands I know who’ve wandered so much in their sound and still really deliver.

  45.
    Twilight Zone- Golden Earring
  46.

The Tarzan (Disney version) soundtrack has been playing in my head all day.

  47.

@SWQ – sounds cool. Especially Epica.

    Also:
Hot For Teacher – Van Halen

  48.

    Always, Erasure.

    oh yeah.

  49.

Remixes of ‘Liar’ by Emilie Autumn. I don’t know why I like these so much. They’re just cool.

    Oh my yes.

_"But then again my Homework was never quite like this"_
  52.

    ^Yeah.

I swear, one day when I’m a teacher (hopefully next year already) I’ll react to the end-of-peroid bell by squealing “Claaaaaaaaaaassss _dis_miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiissssssed!” just like Alex. It will be bloddy hilarious – if the kids of today get the reference, that is.

  53.
I'm sure some of 'em will : )

I mean we're not _that_ old.
  54.

True, but these days stuff like the Backstreet Boys and Destiny’s Child is seen as “old school”. True fact.

I’m sure some of ‘em will : )

    Which will be awesome.

  55.
_True, but these days stuff like the Backstreet Boys and Destiny’s Child is seen as “old school”. True fact._

    That's. . . Sad.

    _Which will be awesome._

Heck yes, what would be even cooler is if some chick would write that she's hot for teacher on her eyelids (A la Indiana Jones) :D :O
  56.

    That’s. . . Sad.

    It’s blasphemy! It’s madness!

Heck yes, what would be even cooler is if some chick would write that she’s hot for teacher on her eyelids

Then I would laugh my ass off.

    A la Indiana Jones

    Is that where it started?
    Cause I only remember it from a Pepper-Ann episode…

  57.
I'm not sure where it started : )

I just know that Indy Jones gets hot babes to write on their eyelids for him. If I could get girls to do that for me I'd have it made. :D

I hope one of the students says: "Man, I think that clock is slow."

Watching a cat’s corpse slowly fester would be more enjoyable than this.

    Lmao.

I hope one of the students says: “Man, I think that clock is slow.”

    snicker snicker in the background

    That bad, huh?

There's goes the second perfectly good keyboard this week. :D
  61.

    Hahahaha, nice.
But you can actually hear they guys giggling when he says that. You can also hear them roughing up some paper to throw each other with.

Also, I have a live version of Jean Genie (no visuals, though – just sound) and I swear it’s so good that you can hear Alex taking a drag from a cigarette while talking to the audience before starting the song. Awesome.

  62.

  63.

    Agreed.

“We came unprepared for this, as usual…” semi-drunk laugh

  64.

currently listening to Colour and Light from Sunday in the Park with George. Bernadette Peters and Mandy Patinkin singing in harmony is pretty easy on the ears.

    :D
  66.

    @Kilgore – that’s what he said.

@Inspector – Mandy Patinkin? As in Inigo Montoya?

  67.

Mandy Patinkin is Inigo Montoya… and he sings, though I haven’t really heard anything he’s sang.

  68.

Mandy Patinkin? As in Inigo Montoya?

ayup. he’s kind of a weird tenor. I’d link you but my dad hates me so youtube is blocked. But he’s been in a coupla Sondheim musicals (Follies and Sunday in the Park with George), and his voice is really weird at first, but it grows on you. I can’t say I like any of his vocal cd’s, though because they are horrid.

  69.

He was also in Evita… I liked his voice in that one. :D

    Electricity from Billy Elliott.

It’s a bit like being angry,
It’s a bit like being scared
Confused and all mixed up and mad as hell
It’s like when you’ve been crying
And you’re empty and you’re full
I don’t know what it is, it’s hard to tell

I’m sure there is lots on YouTube…there’s a specific channel that likes to make pop heavy metal and heavy metal pop. It’s very entertaining to listen to Justin Bieber with death metal vocals. :D
