So good.
Are you kidding? That movie was horrible!
It was mediocre.
I take pleasure in the lame. It’s a bad habit.
I watched Frost/Nixon last night, and even though I thought it was going to be boring (and less entertaining than Glee) I found it to be quite enjoyable. :D
I re-watched Pan’s Labyrinth , Labyrinth (With Connelly and Bowie ^^) and am trying to track down Kick-Ass online.
Kick-Ass kicked ass.
In the world of thinking movies I totally missed the first time around, I also saw Memento and Sunshine for the first time this week. I wasn’t too enthused with how either one ended, but the more I thought about them afterward the more I really liked them both.
Memento is excellent.
Leliel- I was informed I was stunningly like Hit-Girl, and feel the need to asses for myself. xD
Mission Impossible.
Predictable, but so much fun. And you’ve got to love that theme song.
^^ Avatar is very meh. It’s Pocahontas in space.
I’m going to watch The Lovely Bones either tomorrow or this weekend. I’m DVRing it off PPV. I’m preparing to be utterly disgusted with the whole thing.
but for whatever reason I picked up Avatar instead.
ಠ_ಠ
I just bought Avatar. Surprisingly enough, I don’t regret it.
I saw Day After Tomorrow yesterday. I did not like it. D:<
Don’t worry, Willow. That just means you’re brain works.
Thanks. I couldn’t resist.

D: And I envy you. Mmmm, pretties.
I started it, but only watched a bit of it. I need to finish that movie before Jeni kills me. >.>
It may be three days later, but the threat of violence never goes away.
Pan’s Labyrinth is ultra-cool, especially in the original Spanish.
I wasn’t aware you could watch it any other way.
Edit: After fighting in the airport, and much emotional rollercoaster, I decided that I needed pure crack to watch on the plane home — nothing that was going to make me burst into tears at the merest provocation. So of course I chose New Moon. And wow, I did not realise how hilariously bad it was. I did almost give up as I noticed at one point I hadn’t been paying attention for a good five minutes, but stuck with it only to be rewarded with the brilliantly bad acting in Italy.
But I watched part of V for Vendetta later, so that healed the wound.
I wasn’t aware you could watch it any other way.
You know, after looking around a bit, it looks like there aren’t any dubs after all. Cool.
I watched Serenity, followed by Batman and Robin, two films I’ve been meaning to watch for some time for very different reasons. Their contrasting reputations are well deserved.
WIN. I’m watching Serenity right now. Kaylee just decided “hell with this, I’m gonna live!”
Isn’t that the like 4th time you’ve watched that, Willow? A week ago you were like “I’m watching Serenity right now.”
Nah, I was gonna watch it. Or maybe I meant the pilot, I saw the pilot recently.
I have just finished all LotR.
contented sigh
I am very proud. :D
I was contemplating on making it another all-day marathon, and my brother was all for it, but my mother hid the movies. :’( I’m hoping if I promise to pause on Legolas she might see the light and agree. There is nothing better than Saturday morning with Yugioh for Lulz, pancakes for breakfast at noon, and LotR while it rains outside. NOTHING. My little brother says he’ll spend the day crying if we don’t get to watch it. I have told her I will also.
I finally watched 2001: A Space Odyssey. Funny how I’ve never seen this, since I’m such a geek, but I’ve been consciously avoiding it for as long as I can remember. And now that I’ve finally watched it, I have no words to describe it. It was… um… yeah. Wow. WTF.
Really, the only part worth watching is the 20-minute segment with the HAL 9000 deactivating the life support and getting turned off. Otherwise, it’s the dullest, most pretentious movie that I’ve ever seen.
Hey, at least the special effects are good.
Yeah, most of 2001 was really dull, but for some reason I couldn’t stop watching. I think I went through 8 cups of tea trying to stay awake and keep from going stir-crazy. 2001 is something that I think everyone needs to experience once in their lives. And after that, never, ever, ever again.
My brother is insisting I go see Kick Ass with him tonight, hope it’s good.

Critics say it kicks ass.
Except Ebert.
But who cares what he says anyways?
@ arska: How did that work out for you? My mother would have probably let me cry. But your idea of a Saturday morning makes me think that you are the coolest person ever. :)
I failed, and cried miserably. But I still got Yugioh and pancakes. My day brightened considerably when I heard we were finally going to see Avatar and Astroboy.
Needless to say, Avatar was good- to an extent, and Astroboy was entertaining.
I’m starting three articles on Avatar.
I saw about half of Watchmen. The pacing was too slow, and I didn’t like some of the slo-mo, but I did like the visual style a lot in general. I think it kind of sags as a movie under its own weight, as it were. I’m going to finish it tomorrow, probably, but right now I’d probably give it a B.
(I have read the graphic novel and have a tremendous amount of respect for it, by the way.)
Just got back from Kick-Ass. I liked it.

I think the idea is that you take some sort of drug whilst watching it.
My Biology class watched the first ten minutes of 2001 for the evolutiony parts. One of my classmates asked why “the astronaut music” was playing in the background.
Kick-Ass isn’t playing in my local theaters due to some business dispute, so I’m going to have to wait for the DVD. D:
Bummer :/
Anyone catch the really big nod to Star Wars in Avatar?
Namely?
Well, if you want to put it that way, it resembles Endor much more closely. Especially given the whole “furry natives stave off well-equipped human outsiders” thing. I don’t think that it was a deliberate homage, though.
I find it funny that sci-fi writers take the whole idea of a “jungle moon” seriously at all. The distance from the sun would change far too drastically for any life to be possible, barring extremophile bacteria.
I find it funny that sci-fi writers take the whole idea of a “jungle moon” seriously at all.
Setting aside pulp novels, who does take it seriously?
I got The Lovely Bones from fye—I have to wait to get back to Paris to watch it, because I promised my dad. Fathers can be so childish sometimes.
O.O YOU DID?! COME BACK NOW!
Can’t wait to watch it. :D
I watched Casino Royale for the umpteenth time last night. ‘Twas great. :D

I love the theme and opening sequence. All the poker goes completely over my head though.
All the poker goes completely over my head though.
I know! I was on a long train ride, and my friend and I were bored so he taught me how to play poker. In our game, we used little aluminum foil balls as chips. So yeah, my poker experience was totally thrown out the window when I watched the film for the first time. ;)
I know! It’s crazy. And Romola Garai is the title character, no less. It’s pretty crazy that they’re making it again so soon. There’s so little to add. Here you go)
I know I’m so late but I LOVE ROMOLA GARAI!!!
I watched Emma (the good version with Gwyneth Paltrow) yesterday. :D ‘Twas wonderful.
Was watching the making-of LotR extended edition while on the treadmill. It’s the only way they can make me exercise. Of course, it kind of backfired when I got off the treadmill and just watched it.
Saw Heathers. I was rooting for JD up until
Watched Pretty Village, Pretty Flames on YouTube last night. Depressing, disturbing, and kinda weird. But, that’s war in the Balkans for ya.
Also, bought Sherlock Holmes, so I’ll be watching that tonight.
Saw Avatar for the first time tonight. I ended up stopping the movie just after the whole scene where
The official synopsis for Inception:
Acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan directs an international cast in an original sci-fi actioner that travels around the globe and into the intimate and infinite world of dreams. Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable. Cobb’s rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved. Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible-inception. Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy that only Cobb could have seen coming. This summer, your mind is the scene of the crime.
Singin’ in the Rain. Possibly the happiest movie I’ve ever seen.
But my real question is, where are the Gene Kellys and Donald O’Connors of this day and age, and can I please marry one of them?
But my real question is, where are the Gene Kellys and Donald O’Connors of this day and age
I’ve been wondering the same thing about Harrison Ford.
Who says We need to wait for the next Harrison Ford? The current one is still kickin’!
Yeah but he’s a bit old for us. Like older than our parents. I’m just not going for that.
What about our generation’s Audrey Hepburn? A Fred Astaire? Seriously. We desperately need them.
@arska
Who says We need to wait for the next Harrison Ford? The current one is still kickin’!
He’s 68. If he’s “current”, so is William Shatner.
@hmyd.windermere
What about our generation’s Audrey Hepburn?
Natalie Portman?
The current one still kicks ass, Dan. Why in the hell do we need to replace him if he’s sill alive? I mean, Samuel L Jackson is 61. Why is no one talking about replacing him? By all means, he is almost as old as Harrison Ford!!
And I’ll have you know William Shatner is Awesome too. Like Leonard Nimoy.
I mean, Samuel L Jackson is 61. Why is no one talking about replacing him?
Because he doesn’t look like he could be my grandfather?
Yeah, but Ford’s a GILF.
Avatar: The Last Airbender Trailer 4
From what I can see the bending looks spot on, and I imagine it will look even better in 3-D. The acting… still kinda mehh, but everything else seems loyal to the show and it actually looks pretty good.
Do you worry that people will get confused with blue kitty Avatar?
Well, the official name for the movie is actually The Last Airbender. so I don’t think there will be any confusion.
Smart.
I’m watching Jerry Maguire on TBS. Renee Zellweger’s eyes used to be different.
I did not know it had Cillian Murphy. :3
I just saw Grave of the Fireflies. The DVD skipped too much for me to get the full emotional effect, but the scenes of the destroyed city made me feel incredibly guilty, because my country did the bombing….
@ Dan Locke – Hmmmm. But I can’t remember the last thing/anything I’ve seen with Natalie Portman in it, so I can’t say anything.
Maybe I should try to watch anime…
^^Depends on what you want in a show.
Iron Man 2. Hahaha. Ha. I watched without a critical mindset, which could be a good thing? Maybe that’s why I enjoyed it so much. Anyway, it was tons of fun. Moar robots, moar explosions, moar narcissistic sarcasm, et cetera. Plus, DON CHEADLE. Mostly I’m a fan of his because 1) he’s pretty cool, and 2) he’s the only pretty cool person from Kansas City.
I could have watched it a few weeks ago, but bad quality. D:
Iron Man 2. Hahaha. Ha. I watched without a critical mindset, which could be a good thing?
I am going to see it next week, and I think I’m going to take your movie advice from now on, Spanman. :D
I like your thinking.
I’m watching Clue! I forgot how much I love that movie. It is so hysterically bad yet good. So, so good.
“And you had a letter and you had a letter and you had a letter-”
“GET ON WITH IT!”
WHAT. WHAT WHAT WHAT. YOU HAD TIME TO WATCH A MOVIE BUT NOT Castle? BLASPHEMY I SAY.
Don’t rain on my parade! Unlike some people, I like to have fun. :D
Iron Man 2 is very good for fun, especially if you don’t understand why the science makes no sense.
Watching Spanman and Rocky bicker is, in my opinion, better then watching any movie.
I’m watching Clue! I forgot how much I love that movie. It is so hysterically bad yet good. So, so good.
Oh, I love Clue! It’s just so ridiculously awesome/stupid.
