It just goes on and on my friends.
So, with the new forum system that Sly’s setup for us, we see whatever’s been most recently modified. And over time, these will tend to be recently created threads. But there should really be some old, canonical thread that we can go back to and see a semi-continuous discussion winding in and out of other epic threads over the future months, and dare we hope, years (assuming Sly doesn’t come up with a new, shinier forum system before then). I propose it to be this thread.
Now, join in on the epicness and guarantee that your name will live forever.
I do not know what you mean, but okay :)
grins loopily
Ahh, I like this idea.
So, let’s talk about something that weaves in and out of other threads…like the general trend of thread topics. That’s probably broad enough.
I’d say that the thread topics, in general, are mostly introductory threads at this point- a lot of the threads on books seem to be “I’ve read this. Do you like it?” So, basically, everyone’s getting to know each other. I’m interested to know where this might go in the future. By which time, of course, this thread will still be around.
Lol, my gender: a reference point… etc thread is good for a laugh, once you get halfway down the first page and then keep reading. No, I’m not boasting. Blame CB, swenson and Nate Winchester for the complete lulz.
Alright then, Everybody Dance!
(>’_’)>
<(’_’<)
Ya! Shake it! :D
I think this thread has a lot of meta-potential.
Oh, invincible. I thought you wrote invisible, and thought “wait, isn’t most music invisible?”.
I prefer the invincible Sonic music from any of the Mega Drive/Genesis games.
@ Sly: No. Most music is, contrary to unpopular belief, uninvisible.
Ergo, it’s always visible.
Um, based on the original post, are we meant to be having a conversation about the funny or interesting things in the forum? That’s what I thought it meant.
OP here. This thread’s primary purpose is to keep going. I mean, totally, it’s a meta thread about the forum, mixed in with fun randomness like Steph admitting she has a drug problem. It’s okay, I’m here to help. I’ve got a great hookup for you next week, make sure to keep some cash on hand.
Ssshhh!!! Don’t say it too loud! They’ll hear you!
I accuse you, MrHyde, of wanting to post a successful discussion.
But he started the thread! I accuse YOU of being against the Revolution!
I accuse YOU of hating Order, Chaos, and Broccoli in general!
What? Adam, I challenge you to a duel! Have at you!
(^’_’)>{—-
I accuse YOU, OLD, of butting into a trial where you’re not wanted! Have at THEE!
And Adam still hates broccoli!
Alas! I am slain!
<(x_x)>
I didn’t even get near you. Wimp.
flees before Steph/Robespierre breaks out the guillotine
Grrr. Brains…
<(x.x<)
Just call OLD ‘Marie Antoinette’...
(This is the French Revolution we’re referencing here, right? I can’ t be bothered to go check.)
Let them eat cake!
<(x.x)^ —)<(’.’)^
I know OLD wanted brains, but since he’s Marie Antoinette, he can have cake gives cake
As an aside, I actually feel bad for Marie Antoinette. She wasn’t the 18th century Paris Hilton that the surviving revolutionary propaganda has made her out to be.
double post
And she never said “Let them eat cake.”
I feel bad for her, too.
Yeah, she said, “Let them double post.” lol. We’ll let you.
And so my search for ever more elaborite emoticons goes on :D
Hadoken!
(’.’)> {{{ ^(o.o)>
I was deliberately not mentioning them. But I’ve given up now. They are rather elaborate, aren’t they?
I do my best. KNEEL BEFORE THIER ADORABLE MIGHT!!
(>‘3’)><(o_o<)
‘Elaborate’ being another word for ‘indecipherable’
What was that? Can’t hear you all the way up here :D
well, since you can’t hear me, you suck!
I like that one. But the ears = shrek.
All of them are inspired by Kirby. They are ARMS
<(o[::::::::::::: (o_0)>>
Bye.
You’ll be back. They all come back.
I’m so lonely
:D
I piss in this thread.
(This is the French Revolution we’re referencing here, right? I can’ t be bothered to go check.)
Ah, good that you clarified. I was unclear between that and an Agatha Christie novel. And I’m definitely innocent of the charge of trying to start a sucessful discusion. At least, not ITT.
I piss in this thread.
And as we travel through the early posts of this thread, notice over on the left a troll. No, keep your hands and arms inside the ride kiddies. Remember feeding the troll is dangerous. Only tour guides are allowed to do so. *throws hunk of raw meat* Don’t worry, that’ll keep him busy for a little while but we’ll get to see him again. Although one can sometimes try to starve out trolls, the most effective method is the flamethrower. *begins assembling flamethrower out of emergency kit stored in tour bus* Keep your eyes peeled ladies and gentlemen. This ride through the history of II is about to get interesting.
Yeah, he who says blunt things is a troll, amirite?
In the Tyrants Court, only the Jester can tell uncomfortable truths through the guise of foolishness.
Discuss the implications of this idea. Write a 200 word essay. Go.
It means people with power have a stick up their ass. Speaking of which, this thread should merge with the Dr. Dong thread
Jester has six letters, the same number as in “tyrant” (as in, “the Tyrants Court”). Because “king”, “queen”, “page”, and “courtier” all do not have six letters, it is only the Jester, with his power of the six-letter-name who can speak Truth, Truth starting with the same letter as Tyrant. Because Truth begins with a T just like Tyrant and because Jester has six letters just like Tyrant, the Jester can speak it. The King, however, is limited to speaking Lies (“Lies” having four letters, like “King”), the Queen can only speak Order, the Page can only speak Hate, and the Courtier can only speak Divinity. The implications of this idea is that the number of letters in your name is highly important, as is the letter things begin with. Because my name has seven letters and begins with an “S” (Swenson), I can obviously speak Sleeves.
(drat, it’s only 147. Someone else can finish.)
That was not 200 words. I’ll go back to posting bullshit now.
Plato? Socrates? Aristotle? Morons!
Plato was the moron. Socrates was a hardcore troll. Aristotle is lolz.
Wow, a lot of comments while I was gone. And I was defeated in a duel, too.
MrHyde: Yes, it’s a reference to the French Revolution.
Steph: It’s true. I hate broccoli.
The National Razor was the best part of the French Revolution.
And the reference flies directly over CB’s head. A shame.
I see what you did there.
Meanwhile, Steph ponders the ultimate question: Just what does ITT stand for?
In This Thread.
Princess Bride sucks so it’s okay.
ib4butthurt
True. You know me well.
What do you (yes, YOU) think is the best movie ever? (If comedies are your genre, please exclude Eragon from your list.)
OMG PWNIES!
Just go around me. I’ve spent too much time on online.
Whoa. That was really cool. I don’t know what I’m doing here though.
Hmmm.. Best Movie Ever?
The remake of The Italian Job was fantastic. But I have to say that The Princess Bride tops the list.
Good Will Hunting, Bridge on the River Kwai, and Grave of the Fireflies are somewhere at the top, for me. Not necessarily in order, but those are definitely my top 3.
I’m not sure, but I know for a fact that LotR is on the list, and so is Sweeney Todd. ;)
The Seven Samurai, Primer, Brick, Lost in Translation are among my favorites—I don’t know if I’d go so far as to call them top movies.
RVL, which Sweeney Todd? George Hearn or Johnny Depp?
If we can use filmed plays, Sunday in the Park with George gets thrown into(onto?) my list.
Jhonny Depp. Though, the blood was horribly fake…
I sort of preferred it that way, though. It reduced the visceral shock to a more tolerable level, at least.
The blood in this one is kept to a minimal.
Blade Runner (the final cut). I absolutely love that movie.
Director’s Cut of The Butterfly Effect
AI
Silent Hill
Good Will Hunting
The Matrix
The Truman Show
Through a Glass Darkly
Schindler’s List
And if you’ll look over there, you’ll see a bump. These were often necessary in the olden days when someone wanted to restart a discussion but they had no content to add.
I also tend to hold Pixar movies in high regard.
Couldn’t let it die with dignity eh?
It was dead. This is why thread necromancy is necessary.
It’s The Thread That Never Ends. What did you expect?
How exactly does thread necromancy work?
You take a really old thread that nobody’s posted in in forever, and bump it.
You take a really old thread that nobody’s posted in in forever, and bump it.
Exactly. And like necromancy, it’s a dark art which nevertheless has useful and justified purposes. Like this.
It’s possible I didn’t see the final cut, but I really, really did not get Blade Runner.
I’ve heard that the theatrical version was awful in comparison, so that seems likely. It was completely lucid to me.
It was terrible. Worse than what they did to I am Legend.
Oh. Oh dear.
I love LotR, the A&E version of Pride and Prejudice, The Princess Bride, Pixar movies, Beauty and the Beast (which I’ve wanted to watch for the longest time but we don’t have it anymore!)...
SWEENEY TODD!
Pixar movies
FTW
I want to watch Sweeny Todd!!
You haven’t? BLASPHEMY!
;)
Neither have I! Grrrrr… I need to netflix it or something…
YES YOU DO. I FEEL VERY STRONGLY ABOUT THIS.
It was on TV, but we didn’t have that channel. DAAAAAAAAA
I liked the plot, music was forgettable.
