While today is a day of grieving and remembrance, it is also a day of joy and celebration, because today is ImpishIdea’s 4th birthday! I’d like to take a moment to thank several people in particular who have helped maintain this site for such a long, long time:

Kyllorac

Without Kyllorac I’m not sure ImpishIdea would have seen a 4th birthday, and even if it had I doubt anyone would have come to the party. When SlyShy became too busy with school and work to maintain ImpishIdea, Kyllorac stepped up and went above and beyond the call of duty; She not only completely redesigned the main site, but she also took up the task of creating an archive, filing and submission system, updating Textpattern, and helping administer the forums. Without Kyllorac this site would probably be a dead husk, filled with dead links and announcements about how Waylaid Writer is coming, “soon.”

Rorschach

I think this one goes without saying. Rorschach has been providing ImpishIdea with a consistent stream of entertainment for (literally) years now. His dedication and passion is unmatched and he regularly puts his sanity on the line to spork books like The Maradonia Saga and 50 Shades of Grey. Here’s to many more years of sporks!

Drinks: 1

(Assuming he doesn’t get sued by any more crazy authors)

swenson

Another person who has made ImpishIdea’s 4th birthday possible is swenson. She’s also taken on the responsibility of helping administer the forums, and over the years she’s been a constant voice of calm reasoning and support in a community that can occasionally be a little hectic and chaotic. I know without a doubt that if I suddenly disappeared, ImpishIdea would be left in good hands.

NeuroticPlatypus

Last, but not least, is NeuroticPlatypus. She has been immensely helpful, not only on the forums as a moderator, but also as a manager on the main site. When the main site was being redesigned it was NP who volunteered to help Kyllorac sort through and reorganize every single article, and now she’s also taken on the task of checking the submissions email, editing articles and managing the submissions system in her spare time. She’s what keeps the flow of content coming to your front page, and I regret not expressing the appropriate amount of appreciation for everything that she’s done.

I’d like to end this by thanking everyone who browses ImpishIdea. I think the defining charastic of this site is its close community. I think it’s important to remember that ImpishIdea started as just another Anti-Shurtugal site, but after 4 years we’ve evolved into something larger, broader and more significant. While other AS communities have died, we’re stronger than ever, and that’s all thanks to you. None of this would have been possible without each other.

Happy birthday

Hard to believe it’s been four whole years already. And that I forgot that today is the site’s birthday. I remembered yesterday! I swear! I was even going to post an update that also included a shiny new feature!

And then the shiny new feature broke. >.>

Needless to say, I’m working on it.

P.S. – You forgot yourself up there in that fine list, O Dictator-For-Life of the Forums and President-and-First-Imp of the Site. You kept the forums up and active when Sly went POOF! and dealt with all sorts of DRAMA like a man twice your age.

    salutes

No, but seriously: Kyll has done an AWESOME job with the site. II is more awesome than ever thanks to her. It looks pretty, things work as promised, and nothing’s broken… well, too broken. :)

More than Rorschach, I think we have to thank Rorschach’s liver. The Maradonia sporks have been one of the huge ongoing features and a constant source of entertainment here, and we can only hope his liver will continue to survive throughout Fifty Shades of Derp as well.

NP has also filled an enormously useful role, both during the redesign and now. In particular, that was a HUGE job to do during the redesign—had it been me, I probably would’ve given up in despair halfway through!

And of course, thanks to Puppet and our absent lord and master SlyShy. Without you guys, II wouldn’t exist in the first place, I never would’ve discovered the sporking community, and of course I never would’ve met all you awesome, awesome people!

Wow, I can’t believe it’s been so long! I remember finding this site a week or two after it was first created, which is funny to think about.

Anyway, as a long-time member who doesn’t actually do anything, I doff my cap to everyone who puts in so much work to keep this place up and running- not to mention productive.

Like Kyllorac, I remembered the birthday yesterday, but forgot today.

    So happy birthday, II!

Anyway, I’m continually impressed by the people who run this sight (I mean Kyllorac has magical site-fixing powers or something), and I feel really special that I got mentioned in the same list as the people who keep things working properly. So thanks for that, and thanks to all the site-runners who continue to improve the main site and the forums.

    Happy Belated Birthday II!
Um, this is my first year here. I started lurking sometime in the spring. But I love this site and am glad it’s around!

I’ve also been visiting this site for a couple of years and have left a few comments here and there. I first came across Impish Idea when the Twilight virus spread to my country and I was one of the few who didn’t welcome it with open arms. Thank you for thoroughly entertaining me, giving helpful tips on writing, and sharing the love for such gems of literature as Twilight and Eragon.

    Happy Birthday!

I didn’t even see this post, but happy birthday, Impish Idea! I’ve been a lurker for a year or so, and this site has always been a source of joy and laughter. And pity for some people’s sanity after their sporkings.

Here’s to you, II: may you have many more birthdays to come.

Wow, this means I’ve been a lurker for two whole years!

But what can I say that hasn’t been said yet? This site became one of my daily rituals and always brings a smile to my face; it deserves a duper happy birthday, and I sure hope it has many more to come!
