Hey crew,
As the gift giving season nears, ImpishIdea wants to promote awareness of current issues, and encourage giving outside of consumerism. To do this, we will be holding a short story contest.
It works like this:
Submit a short story by January 1st about some issue or difficulty around the globe. It can be about anything from AIDS to the mortgage crisis, anything you feel is a powerful story. At the end of the story, mention a charity that can alleviate the problem. If you win, you’ll receive an ImpishIdea t-shirt, and the charity you mentioned in the story receives a donation (ImpishIdea’s advertising revenue, as of January 1st).
A clearer summary:
- Write heartbreaking story
- Mention Charity
- Submit by January 1st
- Wait anxiously
- Win T-Shirt, Feel Good
How to submit
Send an email to impishidea at gmail dot com with your story attached in a file (preferably not .docx).

Questions!
1. What about allegory? I have a sci-fi story already written that deals with ethical problems, but it’s not specific to a certain modern-day issue.
2. Any minimum or maximum for length?
3. Does the charity have to be mentioned in-story? For obvious reasons, it might be hard to do that with what I have written. o.o
4. Could there be a separate main category for this, like NaNo? I’m thinking so that entries don’t flood the “Recent Articles”…although that may not be an issue, we’ll see how things go.

That’s fine too. It’s already fiction, so you could do this as well.
No minimum, just be sure to convey the feeling. As for maximum, I won’t set an upper bound.
I was probably unclear. I mean, you mention it as a footnote after the story, or in a separate paragraph. Sort of like the way people introduce their work normally.
The third tab on the site is going to be a “Special Events” tab, and since NaNoWriMo is over, this will replace that.

Sounds cool.
Haven’t got any ideas on hand, but I’ll be interested in reading what comes in. If you post it, that is.
