Really? Reddit always seemed to me to be the kind of place that shit like this gets posted:

Heh, I wish. That’s kind of cute.

But, yeah. I don’t go on Reddit anymore because in my experience it has been actively hostile to any concerns I may have about how girls are portrayed in fiction. There are probably a lot of users on there who aren’t jerkoffs, but the jerkoffs shout the loudest.

Anyway, new article about the country’s most rightfully loathed genre.

There are good communities and content on Reddit, but you have to sift through a whole lot of circlejerk to find it.

I’ve temporarily redacted Pyrotra’s article since Finn&Fair’s spork of Chapter 1 of Nibly was posted earlier today.

Pryotra’s article will reappear on the front page at 5 AM EST tomorrow.

Since it gives each article a decent amount of time to be featured with an excerpt.

Seriously though. At least 24 hours in between articles. An article can wait a day or two in between submission and posting.

I concur. I delayed posting the most recent Fifty Shades spork for several days because of other things being posted. It’s nice for the individual authors, giving lots of different people a chance to be featured on the front page, and it spreads out content for readers.

Ah, I think I’ve discovered the mystery. NP’s link has it as criticism, but it’s now in writing. I imagine someone moved/reclassified it, then?

At any rate, here’s the proper link: ‘I want it to look like THIS in the end’, and other worldbuilding goals

(On a side note, NP, how did you manage to get double quotes in a link title?)

  20.

I just typed it with double quotes. shrug And I actually think I moved it too world building and didn’t realize that would mess up the link.

Yes and no. All articles are saved in the same place, and they never actually move around, but the path you take to get to a particular article changes with the section. It’s kinda like living in the same place but changing the mailing address.

I’m going to be the brave one so no one else has to ask.

...how do you do that, exactly?

Edit: Oh wait, found it. Just go to Textpattern, find the page with your name on it, edit.

(This still saves anyone else from asking!)

Re-Edit: Oh wait, no that’s not how you do it.

Okay, back to having no clue how to write the bio.

  40.

Editors and Publishers are the only ones who can edit already published articles, like bios. So, what you do is write up your bio and tell one of us that you want that to be your bio. I’m an editor, so you can post it here or on my wall or something, and I’ll post it for you. I had a thread for this, but it’s been dead a while, so I don’t know if it should be resurrected. Alternatively, you can send your bio to the submission email.

If I wanted to make a change to an article, could I also do so? There’s a few formatting errors that are kind of bugging me, but I wasn’t sure how to change them until now.

  41.

I’m pretty sure that someone else would have to do it for you if it’s already published. You could try, and if that didn’t work, just say what needs fixing, and I (or someone else) will fix it.

Thank you! I went back to look at the article in question — I remember that when it was published, I discovered that quadruple spacing my text is not a good idea — but sometime between when it was published and now, the issue was already fixed. I’ve been meaning to ask this question for a while now, so maybe that’s why? Either that, or it was an issue with my browser.

ETA: Nope, the issue was still there, and I fixed it. I was looking in the wrong article. I guess that I’m a little more tired than I thought today.

Is there anything non-spork in the queue? Or should I write something if there’s to be non-spork material in the queue?

When I checked yesterday, no. If you would like to write something that is not a spork, that would great and most welcome.

    This. So much.

I’d love to see more non-sporkly articles on here. I’m simply swamped or I’d contribute, but Ursula K. Le Guin is visiting my school in about a month. If I could get my hands on a recorder, I could try to transcribe her speaking and post it to the website.

I would write something of the sort, except I’m not very good at saying smart things about writing.

(So if anyone thinks they could make an intelligent article out of advice on how to discuss their own writing and/or writing in general…)
