To get this thread back on topic…

For JulNoWriMo, where do we post work in progress?

Sly is going to create a new category, and there we can just create are own threads.

I think it just didn’t happen in general.

EDIT: AND I REFUSE TO MAKE A SPARKLY PICTURE OF IT.

But I don’t. WARNING: Much glitter.

    THAT IS SO AWESOME!!!

    I’m speechless.

24 hours in my time zone til go time!

  2.

    SMARTALIENQT, Epic. ;P

  3.

I do NOT look like that!

Apart from that, this was so epic win. Especially since it had me in it.

    856 words in!

  4.

    Go Steph!

  5.

Has JulNoWriMo already started where you live? I still have…an hour and a half, technically. But I’ll write during the day tomorrow, not at midnight.

I have one hour and fifteen minutes to go, will probably write a few words tonight, just to say I started right at midnight.

    1:00 AM, 767 words. Bedtime.

8:46 AM, 1026 words. Time for breakfast and a potty break.

    EDIT:

11:13 AM, 1641 words. Yeah, it was a big break, and I couldn’t help editing it some.

  6.

I had to help clean the house. :(

    I haven’t even started yet.

I haven’t written anything. :( (oh well, I finished 3 days early last year. :P)

    Yeah, that’s what I thought I’d do. :P

  10.

I finished today’s quota. Yay me!

  11.

    Finished, with 1778 words!

  12.

Last November, Sly had a page where he had calculated the number of words needed every single day. Does he still have that? Because I’m lazy, and that would save time.

  13.

Good luck to all of you. I’m working on my NaNo from last year right nao (going quite well) so I’m not doing it, but I hope you all win!

  14.

Well, my plot’s the same as November’s. I’m just starting over.

  15.

I did almost 2000 yesterday, and now I’m hating myself because I’ve introduced all these characters I don’t need. But I can’t go back and change it because I’ll have wasted time and words.

    930 words to go.

  16.

in your next 930 words describe at length rocks falling, everyone dying. Two dilemmas solved.

  17.

But what will I do for the next 46 774 words?

I’m starting a blog about the julnowrimo experience. It’s meant to be hilarious. I will probably fail.

  18.

The protagonist grieves for the death of his allies and embarks on a quest to resurrect them. He travels to the Gods, who assign to him a different task for each noble NPC’s resurrection. And so our story begins…

  19.

    I’m not writing fantasy.

  20.

It can be an urban fantasy.

  21.

With magical pixies and magical mushrooms, right?

  22.

1103 words left for Day 3 quota!

  23.

Wow. I’ve been in Day four for at least seven hours longer than you. I think. You are so behind.

Did 850 words in an hour. Overly proud of myself.

  24.

Ughhhh, so many words. I am not used to such intensive writing.

  25.

    It sucks, aye?

  26.

Yeah, I just finished my day two deadline, and we are now into day four >.<

  27.
Don't worry- I was nowhere near the deadline on day 2.

(Just set aside an hour at a time to work on it. I've figured out I can knock over 850 words in an hour if there are absolutely no distractions. (Ha ha, I had to make everyone not distract me.) Which is more than I thought I could do. I'm sure it'll be the same for you.)

No, what I meant was telling the story from one point of view, then switching to the other, it still will be the same novel.

  29.

That’s not a collection of short stories, that’s a novel told in third person omnicient.

  30.

    That’s what I’m doing.

I’m so busy with my Trig class, it’s horrible. I have a test Tuesday that I have a suspicion I’m going to bomb, so I really need to study, but I need to write too. ARGH

Uhg, my story is to short to do JulNoWriMo. =(

  31.

Have everyone except the main character die. Then he has to find the 7 mystical heptagon pieces and reunite them to summon the Immortal Beast Within who has the power to resurrect his fallen allies.

  32.

@ Puppet- you can use the extra space to develop your characters more!

    45000 words of developing characters?

Maybe I’ll write about zombies and robots.

  33.

    Don’t ignore my insightful ideas.

You could have zombies and robots in his quest.

  34.

Wow, you only wrote 5000 words and your story was done? I’m sure there are areas and ideas you can expand, unless this idea really was so brief.

Otherwise…good luck with the zombies and robots.

I was thinking having their spaceship crash and then finding the 7 mystical thingmujigy’s to power their ship back up.

(sort of having a cross over of Cavestory zombies and spaceships.)

I haven’t even written 5000, JulNoWriMo came on me a lot faster then I thought it would. =/

  35.

I have to skip out on JulNoWriMo – I’m having an extreme case of writer’s block to the point where I can’t write anything, not even extremely crappy poetry (which I do very easily).

  36.

Aw, that sucks. Worst case scenario, you could have always actually written something from the badfic generator.

(@ Puppet- now you can write about something even BETTER than zombies and robots!)

  37.

Uh, it’s not of great importance to the majority of people here but I’m going to do my own Augnowrimo seeing as I can’t get internet access that often while I’m away at camp (save for Laundry days). I’ll post results later on. Good luck to everyone! hugs

  38.

You don’t need a computer let alone the internet (which you don’t need at all) to participate in any form of NaNoWriMo.

Of course you do. The internet is vital for whining about distractions whilst writing.

    Vital.

  39.

I like typing while writing better than actually manually writing it out. But that’s a personal preference.

  40.

You don’t need the internet to use a word processor.

Unless your word processor is accessible only through Steam. Then you’re fucked, because Steam’s offline mode is fucked.

  41.

Well, Rand’s at camp, so the point is that she doesn’t have enough time anyway.

  42.
Ha! Mere reason will not stop them from whining!

(Which is, after all, what the internet is for...)

  44.

You might have to do extra work to catch up. (No, you will). But if you’re doing it just to get some writing done, your word count doesn’t really matter in the end.

    That’s pretty much my plan.

I think I might bow out… I wasn’t here for the first week, and I’m fresh out of ideas. Well, not really. I have a couple of ideas kicking around, but they’re either fanfics (and I don’t want to do a fanfic), short stories (and even with my incredible stretching power, I can’t pull a short story into a novel!), or just a spark of an idea, not really a full one.

    Any advice?

  46.

I’ve been saying that someone should actually write a story out of the BadFic generator.

    I’ll see about it. ;)

  47.

    YES!

And then post it on the main site as a continuing series!

  48.

I am very, very behind. 11971 words in and they are not flowing at all.

  49.

That’s ok. I only got halfway through last time.

  50.

  52.

I lasted 15 days, which is how long I lasted last time. Now, just one more half…

  53.

I’ve never done one of these. I write at my own leasurely pace. Plus, I’m usually working on something whenever the month starts.

  54.

I’m actually doing pretty ok, despite my hectic schedule. hopes that I didn’t just jinx everything

  55.

    Woah, Snow White Queen.
I gave up yesterday. 17,566 all up. 2850 fit to read! But I haven’t even finished the first chapter because I kept having to go backwards.

  57.

SWQ, what is your novel about? Just curious. You don’t have to tell too much about it.

  58.

Most of it is junk, probably. I spew a whole bunch of crap, and later I’m going to have to take out everything but the 1,000 words or so that I actually like. Right now, it’s in the roughest form possible and very undeveloped.

@ Neurotic Platypus- it’s a bit difficult to explain. Very generally, it’s about war between humans and witches. Partly I got this idea from Elves- if they’re so kickass (especially Paolini’s), why don’t they try and take over the humans with the aid of magic and their kickassery? Yes, the fair folk are not any more benevolent than the humans for once. Of course, I haven’t even gotten to the part where the witches even show up! Damn slow pacing.

  59.

    I FINISHED 50,000 WORDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  60.

I don’t know…I didn’t even finish my plot and at least 80% of it is crap. Maybe I’ll post a little bit that’s more decent.

How will NaNo work? Everyone has their own thread?

  62.

I don’t know…this time I didn’t really post much of what I was writing, and neither did anyone else. Then again, I think I was practically the only one who did JulNo this year. At least, the only one who stuck with it til the bitter end.

But if NaNo has a bigger turnout, then I guess Sly can set up a separate category, and then everyone can have their own separate thread in there.
