Vanilla 1.1.8 is a product of Lussumo. More Information: Documentation, Community Support.
Sly said that he was getting a ridiculous amount of spam through it, so you’ll have to just email the article or whatever you want to submit to him. I know because I angsted about that submit button for a few days before I realised I could just send it to him directly. XP
Wait, how do we send it to him directly?
There’s a contact link on the main page.
Recently it has come to my attention that there are a ton of articles sitting in the queue waiting to be approved. To all whom it may concern: I haven’t been keeping your articles in approval hell because I hate you in a really passive-aggressive way. Rather, I’m just negligent and didn’t check the queue while studying for finals.
This situation will be amended at the rate of one article per day.

Oops, that’s what I’ve been assuming. Pardon me, I have to go consume a bitter crow now.

Thanks swenson! This helps my penance.
Oh, for…
sigh There’s no hope for you, is there?
Not until I get clemency from the high Sly himself.
A new article every day?!
It’s like a literary advent calendar! That doesn’t stop at Christmas!
Perhaps you could share the submission load with someone, Sly? Maybe even create a submissions-only email account to which a few trusted blokes have the password to? At the least, it would spare many the agony of wondering if you hate/don’t hate/really hate them. :P

But how many of those submissions are duplicates born of frustration and/or doubt? :o
Kyllorac,
Actually that’s already set up. Unfortunately, most trusted advisors are on the same seasonal schedule as myself apparently, so when one of us is busy, all of us are busy. I should rectify that by expanding the counsel, I suppose.
I’m a little freer than most of the ‘counsel’, but I don’t check the back end often. If you need anything just poke me and I’ll get it done.
Expanding the council, you say?
polishes up ambition
/joking
Though getting people who aren’t on the same seasonal schedule would probably be a good idea.
Merry Christmas everyone! New article has arrived.
A little Christmas-ey preview for you imps.
It turned out rather more similar to II’s theme than I had meant it to—I guess I can’t help that.
Hurrah hurrah.
I like the typography of that text sample. It is larger than usual, but managable and easy on the eyes. The header font — is it Garamond? — is nice, simple and elegant. I also like the colour scheme you’ve added there.
I love the colors, and the larger font is good.
TakuGifian,
The font in question is OFL Sorts Mill Goudy (italics, of course).
Would you care to elaborate as to what the purpose of this site is going to be? And the layout looks marvelous. ;)
Oh, and you still have college apps? huggles I feel your pain. (actually, I don’t, but my sister’s been doing her college apps for a while, so I can imagine what you’re going through ;P)
New article is up, and a rather flattering comment has already been posted, which accurately reflects the amazingness of the article…
>:)
I’m not sure you’re entirely unbiased…. XD
Expanding the counsel?
Ears twitch
Maybe I’m totally oblivious to this sort of thing, but… um… I can’t tell the difference. Whatever script this is, I like it because it’s simple, clear, and pretty.
One tiny complaint though: two of the mods haven’t been on since June and August.
I’m far too used to using modern boardscripts like MyBB, SMF, phpBB3, IPB and vB.
We used to. Then Sly switched.
I personally prefer it this way, sections or new threads don’t get lost or ignored for the most part
two of the mods haven’t been on since June and August.
To be honest, I don’t think it matters. Everyone here is so adorably nice. :D
For our purposes, Vanilla is much nicer and cleaner than the other boards.
Everyone here is so adorably nice
True. We’ve only had two scares (the disgusting pictures incident, part one and two) and only other mod stuff has been sinking threads, usually at the creator’s request.
I am not a computerous person, but would like to endorse whatever system is used now on the basis of familiarity.
Vanilla takes a little while to get used to, but its a lot more smooth and efficient.
Also, it’s very easy to navigate. It’s very easy to look at threads by categories, like a “normal” forum, but also to just look at everything at once, which, due to our comparatively small numbers, isn’t particularly overwhelming. I just came back after being gone for eight days, for example, but I still feel like I can get caught up on every thread, not just a few.
I dunno. Other forums may be more accessible initially, but once I got used to this format, I became rather partial to it… like any format, there’s downsides to it too, but it seems to fit the atmosphere around here—somewhat relaxed and flowing, without a rigidly defined structure.
Cripes, leave for two weeks, and you’re flooded with great writing articles to read!
Welcome Back!!!
Thanks much. ;D
Hey, so… not sure if Sly (or other people with comment-removal-powers ;)) saw this, but there’s a few spammy comments up, specifically here.
So. Yeah. Good deed for the day done. ducks out of thread
Heh, thanks.
I don’t know why they even bother spamming a site that has the nofollow attribute in every link, but whatever.
I agree with the favourable comments on Vanilla.
Mm, fantrasy. My favourite.
I know, it has such good authors like JRR Trolkien, GRR Martrin, and many others.
Shut up, Flanpan.
I mean, Stanman.
AND you, Virgilia, you leather-podded, pinnate-leaved… genus.EDIT: Hooray is fixed! But the URL serves as silent reminder. -__- Thanks, whoever fixed it!
XD
I can’t edit the permalink.. so it will stay there for all of us to enjoy. :P

I hate you.

Oh, you’re very good. Very sly. But no less hateful.
New Article!
We love Artimaeus :)
A few minutes ago, I wasn’t able to add or edit any comments.
There might be a new article up on the front page, but self promotion is just so crass.
Yay, articles!
Natiepoo, you’re crass.
Yet another hawkmistress post.
I’m starting to think lccorp2 might be those million monkeys on typewriters we’re always hearing about.
SlyShy, could you fix the article categories? At the moment, they only show one result per page, and they’re practically useless.
Ah, right. I said I was going fix that a long time ago… and in fact, it is still on my todo list from a few months ago. I’ll go try that now, since I’ve got some breathing room from my homework finally.
Site is going to intermittently look like poo while I work on it again.
Um. Hm. It’s later than I realized already. Well, I will work on it tomorrow in the morning.
Yuck, don’t have FTP access here so I can’t upload the new stylesheets right away.
Also, I’ve had to come to terms with the website looking really ugly right now. I think I’m going to work on fixing it back up for a while. I’m sort of at a natural pause in WaylaidWriter anyway.
And all it took was the threat of physical violence.
I should use my beating stick more often.
Well, the section pages are already less retarded. They will, in fact, display more than 1 article per page. However, I’m dissatisfied now, and will likely not be satisfied until I clean up lots of cruft.
Garbage that clutters up a program or webpage.
There’s a lot of that in the template and style sheets. Although the site loads quite quickly, so I haven’t been too concerned with fixing that.
Will somebody please delete the spam on the main site?
Hey, did you know that there was a new article up?
Will somebody please delete the spam on the main site?
Request seconded.
Hmm…. it seems one of my articles is languishing in limbo. (is there a way to provide rejection reasons/feedback on those?)
But thankfully, Hawkmistress continues!

I think it’s just that those possessed of powers to post other people’s articles haven’t gotten around to it. I can see it in the list of yet-unposted articles.

Ok. I just also wanted to make clear that if there’s any thing Sly & Co would want changed or adjusted, I’m open to that.

I believe that’s done through email, though I’m not positive.
Sorry, I should check the queue more often. Should be fine for posting tomorrow.
Yay! More articles are coming!
Err, now that another article has been posted today your article can be posted tomorrow. xD
No rush Sly. I’m quite enjoying today’s article!
Poor Nate.
I know. I fail. Whenever I get a spare moment I go, “Hm, I should go see what needs to be done with II now… oh! I’ll go work on Waylaid.” And then I do that instead.
I was sincere in my thanks. I’m quite enjoying the hawkmistress series.
I almost jumped out of my chair when I saw that a new Twilight Abridged and Annotate was up. :D
And more Hawkmistress! Truly tis our birthday.
So… the images are broken right now. I’ll have to fix those sometime.
Ah. I was wondering what was up with the site header.
To save bandwidth I was hosting all the images on Google Pages, which is awesome, because I like offloading my resources onto corporations that can afford it. However, they recently moved me from Google Pages to Google Sites, which somehow broke PNG transparency on all the images. It’s odd.
Does it affect .gif transparency? (when I designed websites, it’s why i avoided pngs – they always seemed to cause troubles)
There shouldn’t actually be any problem, but I think they converted from .png to .jpg and then back again. Which would understandably mess up the transparency. These days the only browser that still has trouble with png transparency is IE 6.
How’s WW coming? I went on a little writing kick, but I’m hesitant to share any of it because a) I want to write some more and b) I don’t want to clog the forum with critique threads.
Well, I made some very important progress recently. (Maybe I should be regularly posting about what progress I’ve made… except I dislike blogging. Eh, I’ll see about what can be done.)
Spring break is coming up in just a bit, so I’ll be able to make a lot of progress then. The only issue being, before that I have a lot of midterms to take, so that’s holding me up for a moment. I’m starting to pick up momentum, though, so that much is nice.
Edit: Also, I doubt anyone will mind if you posted more critique threads.
