...that took me far too long to get.
No One, I wonder if it’s a caching thing? Try forcing the page to refresh (shift + refresh button on most web browsers, I think) or clearing your browser cache.
Yeah, mine still showed April Fools stuff right after it changed back, but refreshing the browser fixed it.
Oh, that’s much better. Thanks, swenson.
@Taku: I find it amusing too. :D
There’s a…bit of a backlog in articles to be posted.
...okay, there’s just Brendan’s latest and mine (which has been there about a week with me adding little things on over time)...
Yeah, sorry about that, Lily. I’ll go read yours now (I know it’s been hanging out in there for a while).
On my contributor page on the main site, Part 3 of Forest Purple’s Tiger’s Curse spork appears at the bottom, but not on Forest Purple’s own contributor page.
(Also, I’ll actually get around to writing something to fill up my page later today…)
Should be fixed now.
Hello! Just dropping in really quickly. How are things going?
Also, while I’m here, I made a minor change to the individual article pages. They now show the article’s rating (which probably should have been shown from the beginning whoops). Also, hopefully the date is a little bit more noticeable with it being on its own separate line.
I also might need to poke around the submissions email. I don’t know yet. There have been shenanigans going on with it since I first set it up (like that one time all the comment notifications on one of my articles got sent to the submissions email instead of my personal) which I thought I sorted out ages ago but now I’m not so sure. We’ll see.
Boop!
Haven’t noticed any bugs lately, you should be good there.
I just tweaked the site a touch to make the design a little more responsive. Maybe one day I’ll go and make the design fully responsive, but today is not that day.
Is anyone checking the submissions email? And have we acquired any editing volunteers since I’ve been here last?
Hey, nice to hear from you, Kyll. Hope everything’s good with you.
Sadly I can’t do you all the disservice of putting my hand up to help edit, only to not actually do anything on the pretense of having other priorities. Which I totally do, but for some reason Harry Potter fanfic always seems to creep up to the top of the list.
Heh.
@Kyll – I know I haven’t done anything with articles in the past, and I would definitely volunteer, except for time. :\ If it’s just a matter of posting articles, I could do that, but if we need more than that (actually editing stuff) I dunno if I’ve got the time.
In like two months I’ll have time, theoretically? But that’s awhile off.
I’d be willing to help with checking submissions, but I don’t have access to it.
All right, who angered the spambot god? 37 spam comments today. Thirty-seven. Why.
The spambots have returned.
Om nom nom. Spambots nommed.
Someone appears to have offended the god of spambots again. Only ten so far, but they seem to have taken a liking to the “How Not to Write Female Characters” article, while spouting off random bits of what Google Translate says is Japanese.
Yeah, just got on and saw them. I’ll get out the chainsaw.
EDIT: I think that’s all of them. Let me know if anybody sees any I missed.
I think the reason the Female Characters article got hit was because it’s one of the most-linked articles on the site. (that and EWW Twilight)
Anyone else having problems getting to the main site? Because whenever I try to go there, I get a blank page that says this:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘yield’ (T_YIELD), expecting ‘(’ in /usr/www/users/kmbunday/impishidea/textpattern/publish/taghandlers.php on line 322
Same here
I’m also getting the error, but accessing Textpattern and the forums are OK. Not sure what’s causing this, looks like a PHP error.
Even Textpattern seems to be having some issues, though.
To be honest, I’m mostly bothered by this because I just posted another sporking.
Don’t worry, the problems started after that—I really enjoyed this chapter, by the way!
Sorry about the front page. I suspect the hosting company updated the version of PHP it runs and Textpattern broke as a result. I will fix it.
<3 Thank you, Lord SlyShy.
And… it works. Absent web landlord at your service.
SlyShy – I’m still getting errors when I try to access Textpattern, and I’m unable to access Content to approve and post new content.
Oops, sorry for the late response, Rorschach (AP/IB exams this month are killing me.) What are the specific errors you’re getting when you try and use Textpattern? I just tried logging in myself and it seems like everything is working properly, so I’m kind of curious.
Well, logging in to Textpattern isn’t the problem, but stuff like this:
Strict Standards: Non-static method theme::init() should not be called statically in /usr/www/users/kmbunday/impishidea/textpattern/index.php on line 92
pop up, and clicking the “Content” tab doesn’t do anything.
^ what Apep said.
^ Also getting this, of course, I’m not a regular poster but I used to be able to go back to Pending articles and view them.
ILUVU,
Fixed the Textpattern issues. Thanks!
Yayyy.
Thanks!
I keep trying to leave a comment on an article, but it keeps coming up with the message:
“Textpattern detected signs of automation in your message. Please check you comment.”
Hm, did U copy and paste the message text from another program? I wonder if it has some formatting in it that caused text pattern to trip up. I don’t quite know what criteria it uses to evaluate the spamminess.
I put in a hidden field (hidden via JavaScript and innocuously named) to trip up spambots ages ago. If you have a script blocker on, it’s possible that you’re seeing that field and filling it out, which would trip that message.
The only fields you should fill out are Name (just the first field), E-mail, and (optionally) Website in addition to the comment itself.
