Vanilla 1.1.8 is a product of Lussumo. More Information: Documentation, Community Support.
Yeah, wiping the big threads that have no central discussion seems good, if only because of the large size of those threads.
On the wiping thing, I’d also like to point out that it would completely destroy things like ongoing sporks or ongoing discussions, unless currently active threads were saved (which would defeat the purpose of a total wipe). That would be awful.
Yes, this.
A forum upgrade is being considered. It will be non-destructive, so nothing will be wiped.
As far as the main site goes… would anyone else want to code it? I have a big problem with over-committing my time, so it might take a longer time than you are willing to wait for me to make any changes.
Major props to Saeyre for providing these emoticons, even though she isn’t here anymore. Only took us about three years after she made them for us to use them.
If no one else wants to, I’d be up for it. Just don’t expect things to be done quickly. And expect much experimentation/weirdness. XD

And it would be helpful to whoever codes if you had an picture or something to show us about how you want the site to look. Unless it’s a free-for-all sort of thing.
Would the forum upgrade change the look/feel of the forum, or would it still be Vanilla and still this style?
Can it be coffee? Please please please?
i love coffee ice cream and there is none to hand ._.
Beer = eugh.
Bacon, on the other hand…
You guyz.
If we were to upgrade from Vanilla 1 to Vanilla 2 the theme would probably have to be reinstalled, but Lussumo should be compatible with Vanilla 2.
OK, cool. I really love the look of the forums (the colors and everything).
What do you guys think of the banner? I added it ‘cause it looks cool, but it also acts as another link back to the main site.
Okay, I admit, when I saw it at first, I thought: “That’s pretty cool.” Yeah, keep it there, it looks nice.
The new banner is really pretty, and i like the current colors of the site. That’s all.
^^I like it too.
Woah. Lookin’ good, II. does the Joey nod
What you got against beer?
It tastes like piss, only worse.
Whiskey’s where it’s at.
Was something removed? I was just on my phone and it looks different now. Or maybe it doesn’t and I’m imagining …
...I hate early mornings.

The ImpishIdea logo from the main site is now at the top of the forum instead of it saying “ImpishIdea Discussions” in a regular font. The logo is also bigger than the previous header, which makes it look like the actual discussions start farther down.
That’s the only change that I’m aware of, and until I realized what had happened, it did look like something was missing.
Whiskey’s where it’s at.
This. Add another point to the “Kyllorac is pretty cool” pile.
@NP – Lol, um, thanks. I actually didn’t realize what it was at first what with my brain being turned off a couple hours ago. And my phone’s making it look all weird and drawing this red line all around the logo. And I wondered why everyone liked that. But I see it’s perfectly fine looking at it on the computer.
And I like how the sign-in page looks now. It’s only a little different, but I like it.
And my phone’s making it look all weird and drawing this red line all around the logo.
It should be fixed now.
Kyllorac has been appointed Despot of Design.
Good luck, Kyllorac! Try not to enjoy whiskey and coding at the same time.
Ooh, the logo is nice. I’ve always loved that logo/banner.
Kyllorac has been appointed Despot of Design.
That has a very nice ring to it.
I love the new design- it’s quite elegant.
I have to wonder—why did the old visual style of the posts go away? I miss the backgrounds for blockquotes; it really helped differentiate between them and normal text.
I gotta say that the new design is quite snazzy.

This.
Also, let’s please implement it the same as it was for actual articles on the main site.
Well, it seems I used poor terms; I was actually referring to the main site.
And here’s me being a total freak. XD I was just worried ‘cause I saw no notice.
I was very surprised. I thought I had accidentally auto-selected the page for sign-in from the URL history.
EDIT: Now the forum is as it was….Why?
Oh man, I love the new forums! They’re so awesome and wonderful and everything! They should stay like this forever!
On a (vaguely more) serious note, I particularly liek teh choice of Comic Sans 4 teh header, as well as Bella being The Wire’s avatar.
Agreed!
OMG i luv teh new forums Edward xxx Bella 5evah! OMG so freaking cool!!!!!!!
I like the new banner image very much. The video, not so much.
Happy April 1st, ImpishIdea.
What video?
And I was just about to find the Twilight Forums more amusing now that I’m not as sleepy as before. Oh well. Good one, Puppet. :)
Well done, Puppet. Is there no length to which you will not go in search of a practical joke?
insert clapping gif which I am too lazy to put in
Jolly good show
I’m pointing out the obvious here as everything’s gone back to normal now, but it just feels so … clean. Couple hours ago it was as if I was being force-fed cupcakes and twinkies every time I looked at the screen.
...But yes, jolly good show, though. 8D
Yes, really makes you appreciate the neutral tones and sleek lines of Sly’s design aesthetic, right Sen?
Yes. And now that I know there’s a certain someone capable of threatening that, it scares me.
Here you go, Bluemask:
I’m kinda disappointed the crazy background never showed up for me.
Forum craziness, and I missed it?!
What is this travesty?!
Well, that’s what you get for not eating, breathing and living II.
:D
Ahaha, well played, REDACTED. I have greatly enjoyed this year’s festivities thus far.
I may or may not have been responsible for the forum upgrade, but I can’t take credit for the change to the main site. I think you’ll have to thank our Despot of Design for that one.
Aaaaaaaaah eyes broken now bai
What happened on the main site?
nvm. Only saw it like now. Jeez.
It became fabulous.
I. can’t. read. anything.
The cruelty of this world…. T_T
I. can’t. read. anything.
Fix’d.
Eh, I liked it the way it was before. Now I can’t see the lovely background as well.
It’s so beautiful, it hurts.
I’ve made some changes to the administration around here.
Jeni, Elanor and SlyShy are all inactive, so I messaged Kyllorac and swenson and both of them have agreed to take on the responsibility of administering this forum. In addition, I removed the inactive moderators (Lord Snow, Kitty, MrHyde, Mlarg and Virgil) and made NeuroticPlatypus a moderator.
Congratulations new staff!
Question: If Sly is no longer active, who is monitoring the impishidea@gmail.com address for article-submission? I used to send them straight to Matt Sly at his direct email.
Currently, no one. Hence the submissions system overhaul mentioned in the last news post.
Taku, since you’ve published articles before, you could just log into textpattern…. unless I’m missing something. Then an editor could post your stuff.
Yeah, you should be able to log directly into texpattern and post your article as a draft. I’m not sure who our current editors are, however.
I’m an editor, and I check regularly. Kyllorac checks regularly too, I think. Rorschach is an editor, but I don’t know how often he checks textpattern.
Kyllorac checks regularly too, I think.
Yeppers, in addition to fixing formatting issues (like multiple-paragraph quotes) in the recently posted articles.
I check textpattern periodically. Have not be very active over the past few weeks as it’s building up towards finals atm. I’ll be able to put more time into II in another couple weeks once I’m done with this semester.
okay, thanks!
As some of you have probably noticed, Clibanarius has been banned from the forums. He was banned for repeated violations of forum etiquette, which included disrespecting forum admins and members. He couldn’t express his opinion in a calm and collected manner, and derailed many legitimate and interesting discussions with his personal political and religious views.
Jeni gave him a chance, and I gave him a chance, but this time he went too far.
.Sorry about that Taku. I saw your submission and didn’t put it on my todo list.
Hey, Sly’s back! No worries mate, Kyll taught me how to access Textpattern or whatever it’s called.
Hopefully, sometime in the near future, accessing Textpattern will no longer be an issue…
But considering the headache I have at a moment, it may be nearer to the far-near future.
Currently, the forums in general are public-viewable. Certain categories (Critique Wanted, Impish Writing, NaNoWriMo, and Roleplaying) are only viewable by members.
I’m wondering if making Introductions, Article Workshop, and Life members only would also be a good idea…
Scratch that. Just made them so. We can always unblock them later.
Sounds like a good idea. Those are the places where people tend to spill the most about their private lives.
People are responsible for their own privacy. If they don’t want everyone to know where they live and all of their deepest darkest secrets and fears, then DON’T COMPLAIN ABOUT OR MENTION THEM!
While you, of course, have a valid point, I do appreciate the steps taken to maintain a forum where such concerns can be safely and privately expressed. There is no inconvenience and a great deal of additional security.
That’s true, Orlando, but at the same time this forum was never meant to be a public one anyway.
@Orlando – my concern was more for people who want to share information with other people on this forum, but not the general public. I’d trust pretty well everyone here with basic stuff about myself, but I wouldn’t necessarily want to just have it out there for everyone to see (and get indexed by a search engine).
Actually, that’s an interesting question. Is whispered or private-board text search-engine accessible? Sometimes you can get into the first page of a private discussion by persistent Googling.
Is whispered or private-board text search-engine accessible?
I wasn’t able to view any private categories or comments via an incognito Google search. It doesn’t mean that it isn’t possible, of course.
Things which were just switched over are definitely still going to show up in a Google search. It’ll take a little bit of time before they disappear completely.
I’m not worried personally, just curious.
I vaguely remember that there was a thread about stereotypes. Either that, or it was a really vivid dream. Does the thread still exist somewhere? I can’t seem to find it.
I thought there was too, now that you bring it up, but I can’t seem to find it either. It must’ve been one of those threads that got off-topic and started talking about stereotypes.
I remember that thread. Now, to find it…
Hmm… it’s not that thread, sorry. I was looking for a older thread, more like early last year or 2010 (was I here in 2010? It was a long time ago). It was talking about country/national stereotypes or something like that, I think.
Huh. I’ve never seen this thread before. But it’s not the right thread unfortunately. Sorry. :s I don’t know where that discussion could be…
It’s not the Hetalia thread, is it?
Hetalia? I’ve never even come across that word before. O.o
Let’s see…
I could probably find more if I looked.
Whoa, that’s a lot. Thank you, but… it’s none of them. I’m sorry! I’ve looked through them in my previous searches but I still haven’t come across the one discussion/thread that I’m looking for. I’m starting to wonder whether it really existed or it was just a dream.
