I remember there used to be a way to change one’s username. Not that I’m planning on changing mine or anything, but I can’t find it, and it disturbs me because I’m wondering if it’s one of those it’s right there in my face sort of things that I’m just not seeing or if it got removed…

  2.

If you go to your account and edit your info, I think that’s where you can change your username.

I removed it because I got fed up with trying to work out who people were after they completely changed their name on a whim. Brandon was the last straw.

Sue me, but it was annoying and confusing.

And now you’ve made me abuse italics.

  3.

Right, that’s it, let’s sue Jeni.

I tend to agree with this.

Yeah, I was on another forum where they blocked that for precisely that reason. It’s amusing at first, but quickly gets old. And if anyone ever really needed a name change (not sure why they would, but whatever), you could always just PM the admins.

Well, my opinion is that it can be amusing – when in-jokes about names quickly develop (for example, Inspector and the male/female thing), members get to change their names on the fly. I hadn’t done anything up until now because I kept convincing myself that, and I know, we can wholly trust each other. But I think it was being horrendously abused, not at all out of spite, but because people weren’t thinking about the importance of names on an online forum.

Despite my frustrated post, I did think long and hard about whether or not to remove the option (although I have to say, it’s probably a good thing it’s taken absolutely ages for someone to notice).

In my defense, I was AWOL for ages. I noticed it pretty much right after I came back. XD

And there go my plans for a revival of that one April Fools where we all changed our names to crazy character names. I was thinking of bringing back Tinnikkikkik, too.

Does this mean Dan Locke will have to stop being Stellar Jetman? Because that has been annoying the bejesus out of me. YOUR USERNAME IS WRONG, PLEASE FIX IT. ICON DOES NOT MATCH NAME.

It’d be like if Puppet kept his icon, but changed his name to Frankenstein. IT WOULD BE WRONG.

I can tell by looking at the early part of the gender thread.

  14.

Just lol’d at Inspector’s ‘stuck as a female forever’ comment.

Anyway, yeah, feedback: sometimes I spend a while constructing a comment, and then my session times out or something. Sly, can we make it so that this doesn’t happen?

Another cool feature to have would be a sort of draft save that happens once you click ‘post’ in case it all goes wrong. Is that possible?

This is really nitpicky, but is it possible to remove the link formatting of ImpishIdea Discussion at the top of the page? Not only is it unnecessary because of the “Main Site” link right beneath it, but the link itself is also weirdly hard to click on.

  15.

but the link itself is also weirdly hard to click on.

It really is! I didn’t notice until you pointed it out.

  16.

My gosh, you’re right! And to think I never knew this…

Side note: I don’t know whether this is your fault, Android’s fault, or Vanilla’s, but I just tried to log in to II on my Android phone, and it kept showing that I wasn’t logged in when I got back to the discussions. I couldn’t post comments, but my wall said my last activity was one minute ago. So I don’t know. Weird. (I’m on a PC right now, btw.)

  17.

Knew a BlackStar a few years ago, except that one talked about cartoons a lot instead of characterization techiniques.

  18.

Is it possible to put links in hidden text? Because I can’t make it work, and I think it would be cool to layer that kind of stuff.

Put a space between the brackets and the link or try separating it into multiple lines.

    Example 1: [hide] text [show]

    Example 2:

    [hide]

    text

    [show]

    That should work.

  19.

If you’re talking about “layering” a hidden message inside a hidden message then we need to go deeper.

I don’t see the point, personally. If you need help you can always pm me on my wall.

(For future reference, the FAQ contains a list of the most active mods and admins.)

  23.

Anyway, most long-term members have about the same amount of knowledge as mods anyway, so if you need help you can ask pretty much anybody (unless of course it’s something mod exclusive).

  24.

I like how mods are the same. Even though most of us know who they are, it’s more like they’re one of us, rather than someone with MOD POWERS. IDK. I don’t like looking at people’s names and thinking: “Oh, that’s a mod.”
