An ignore feature to block posts from users you don’t want to hear would be good.

    I second Puppet.

  1.

An ignore feature to block posts from users you don’t want to hear would be good.

qft, I hope it works when lccorp2 becomes a mod too

  2.

Add a ‘delete your post’ feature. for example I set up that monopoly thread before it was ready to go, etc, and two seconds after I posted it I wished I hadn’t.

I don’t know if the ignore feature is a good idea. If someone’s getting particularly nasty, well, isn’t that what mods are for?

I actually like the way we have no signatures atm. Signatures detract from the conversation and make the conversation harder to read.

    But that’s just me.

If someone whispers to you, or you get a reply on a private thread (which will probably only be you and me at the moment – We Are The Elite!), can this generate an email letting you know?

Also, no PMs, please. They’ll stop the community feeling and everyone will be having little isolated conversations that could just as well be shared with the world.

  3.

Keep doing a bang-up job thumbs up

    :D

The Whisper function serves as a different form of the standard PM system. I likes it.

Steph, if someone replies or whispers to you, the topic comes up as unread for you.

I’m not bothered about signatures. I think not having them works with this format.

And about the delete function, you could just edit your post saying “whoops, too quick off the mark, delete please?”

The forum features are great as they are, IMO: the only thing I'd like is the possibility to delete posts...

There’s actually a sneaky way you can delete your posts, already.

Just Edit your post and make it a whisper to yourself. You are the only person who can hear your own insane whisperings to yourself!

  5.
I wonder if they can hear me? Anyway, I think I should tell Jeni and SlyShy that I, too, like the whispers instead of PMs. And I think I'd better beg, again, for no signatures.

But since they can't hear my insane whisperings to myself, I'd better speak up.

Who is this “they”, anyway? Is it the mods? Do/Will they have whisper-vision or some such? How can I protect myself?

  6.
They = anyone who wants to destroy your ambitions, friend.

There’s a red bar that’s appearing at the front of some people’s comments. Is that a result of those people being moderators? If so, could you change that? It’s a bit too noticable, in my opinion, especially since I will have to notice it hundreds of times, in all likelihood. (Maybe give them a small star or something, somewhere?)

  7.
Sly got rid of it, no worries.

  33.

Lol, you hate me, don’t you?

I hate karma systems. How are newcomers supposed to even compete? Plus, TwilightSucks.com has karma, a zillion little icons, HUGE signatures (two of them! and they clash with everything), and MORE! Can you say, ‘clutter?’ Added to which, the huge karma rankings intimidated me.

It shouldn’t be about entertainment. It should be about the topics themselves.

    Not that kind of karma
  37.
When I say 'entertainment', I mean just random doo-dads that don't really have any point beyond containing extra information/gimmicks that you don't really need. Apologies.

Yes, true, I personalised my profile, but I'm fine with that suddenly disappearing. I'm more than okay with it, in fact. That way, people can get to know me through my posts, through interacting with me (albeit in a detatched way, cause, heh heh, this _is_ the internet) rather than just reading about me.

*another appeal to Sly* We are mainly a writing community. We should be streamlined, our creativity contained in the words themselves.

So far, I have appealed to his senses of professionalism, community (multiple times), inclusivity, and humour. I hope this works, cause otherwise, soon I'll have to turn to the Big 5. And heaven knows how I'm going to appeal to your sense of smell through the net!

Larger avatars are a wonderful idea, though. And I have a *home-made* avatar I'd love to use. Can the avatars have the option of remaining on the server or wherever they go? You know, how you click the browse button and you can search through your own files?

Ok, I finally got back after a two-day vacay but I have a lot I wanted to say somewhere on these forums but didn't.

First- I really, really, really like this amazing new format. This amazing new software. Amazing new host/program/magic. I am loving it. Its not as complex as the originals, as too-many-features as the second format you used, and not as... er... naked as the ones before this. I really do love it.

What do I like about this? Mainly its simplicity while it is still able to function. First off, it requires we register before we can say anything. That's a great part. Not only do I not have to lose sleep at night about who will impersonate me (^^) but it keeps some sort of consistency. And I like being able to pick out a mini-avatar (keeping it simple, small, neat) and filling out my user profile. Excellent stuff.

I also like the whole program by itself- how it recognizes your IP address or something and knows what a user has or hasn't read. And scrolling right to the last post you read. And highlighting the whispers. And just, like stuff like that.

I like that its not a whole ton of complicated forum categories, with random threads stuffed everywhere.

I also like the color and the, you know, general design and format.

To be frank, I hope we keep it as is.

Signatures- I don't believe very much in them. C'mon- everything you're going to say, you can say in the text itself. You don't need some random pic to emphasize your fandom of Star Wars the way I know everyone is itching to. Keep it simple, again.

The only thing I'd want to see is bigger text. Why? I'm going to be spending a lot of time on this site. My vision is poor. I want to be able to read when I'm ninety.

That's all. Really good work though, and I for one am really enjoying using these forums. Its not like many forums create something beyond a screen but this stuff here is kind of like a whole experience for me.

(I feel as pompous as Justin Finch-Fletchley (sic?!). Huh)

Well, that's all I wanted to say.
