A bunch of us are on Steam. Why don’t we just do that?

  2.

That….makes no sense to me. The placement for the analog sticks on the Gamecube controllers is identical to the Xbox and 360 controllers.

cough Um. The Xbox controller seems clunky to me, and it’s too big

  3.

A (good) mouse beats any controller any day.

  4.

I’ve never used a good mouse, I think.

Unless you consider the one that came with my Wacom Bamboo Fun good. Here’s a reference picture.

My PC--both the literal piece of junk and my sorry excuse for an ISP--are unreliable for online gaming, but my 360 is due back by the end of the week.

Modern Warfare? World at War? Anyone?

Also, I hate using a mouse. I need a controller or a joystick (preferrably Force Feedback) to use in conjunction with the keyboard. For the type of games I play, dual analogs or throttle control is a must.

Yeah. The price tag for XBL can be an initial turnoff, but I can vouch for the fact that it's extremely reliable. In fact, in the almost two years I've been subscribing to XBL, I've been without it due to Microsoft's part maybe once or twice. Actually, my ISP is infinitely less reliable than XBL....which I suppose is saying something. So, yeah. It's a $50 chunk from the wallet, but it's well-worth it.

That's the thing I love about Jedi Outcast. Not only did Lucasarts provide the tools for modding, but they gave players access to a robust cheat menu. And not just invincibility or all weapons, but spawning friendly and enemy NPCs, no clipping, tweaking individual Force powers.

Just yesterday I was running around Bespin with four officers, ten Jedi, Luke, Lando, and a handful of rebels.

Also, I'm really gettin' pumped for MW2.

I don't know...something about Dragon Age Origins is not drawing me in as much as it should. I guess that there are just way to many rooms in a single dungeon with way too many enemies coming out the same way. There aren't enough events that help punctuate the monotony. And I am apparently at one of the worst dungeons in the whole game right now. Character interactions are extremely funny though.

(@ the game: As a long time dota fanatic player, I’m loving it, I’m the sure the mere fact that there is leaver protection and the capability to reconnect to the games you quit/dc from is enough to get many a pant wet [O_o]... Of course, there are issues, all the new/remade heroes are generally OP and the devs really loved shinies… heck its so shiny that you can’t tell your hero from the background [ this forces me to deactivate all the higher end setting, xD]... but as I said, LEAVER PROTECTION!! RECONNECTION!! Creative NEW heroes [albeit imba ones], I’m finding it hard to focus on Dragon Age)

The Uncharted 2 actually killed my character because he jumped onto a platform before triggering a cinematic where he jumped to that platform, sending me back to a particularly troublesome checkpoint. That REALLY pissed me off. I was punished for playing the game like a game.

bq. I have concluded that Uncharted 2 is overrated as a game. As a movie that's mildly interactive, it's OK. But it's not a game.

I'm playing it right now, and while I think it's quite possibly the best looking game to date and _incredibly_ cinematic.....something's lacking. I don't know what it is. The voice acting is great, the level designs are fantastic, the story is fairly good (though mediocre). But it seems like you're doing the exact same thing the entire time. Run, climb, shoot. Repeat. I think, for an adventure game, is far too linear and short on puzzles. It feels more like an exotic action shooter than a fisticuffs adventure.

Now, Modern Warfare 2, however......holy crap. I was surprised at how often I was slapped in the face with an awesome moment. But what's great is that, when the campaign ends, you have SpecOps (which is _great_) and multiplayer (which is _phenomenal_).

I think the storyline swayed a bit too far into the stylized side of things versus realism, but that didn’t stop it from being totally awesome.

But I think MW1 did a better job on the missions. MW2 had a bunch of really neat elements, but almost always fell back onto basic fighting, where 1 had the sniper mission, the gunship, etc.

And my god I love breaching. :D

There was defintely a broader emphasis on the sorts of missions in MW1, but I think what MW2 did was broaden how you tackled high-caliber engagements. An SDV aquatic insertion, snowmobile escape, suburb brawl, frentic chase through a favela, the blacked-out streets of DC, Afghan caves. Infinity Ward seems to be exceptional at making great set pieces for levels.

    And, yes, the breaching owned.
