Hi Giant Forum of People I Don't Actually Know

That is, I don't know who among you I've actually met on the group chats Elanor drags me into; you'll know me as Helen, or possibly The Person With The Weird E-mail Address. Apparently, she's also dragged me over here now, which is cool, because I've stalked- er, PC term is lurked, I believe- before and was amused, although slightly freaked out. And also the obligatory story of having read Twilight and Eragon, laughed for several weeks and then suddenly realized in one fell swoop that all my friends actually like these books and think Edward is, like, the ulimate super-hottie.

So anyway. Pleased to meet you, pleased to be here, please don't scare me...

    Pleased to meet you!

I hope you won’t be too scared by the crazy stuff that happens here, but you should be warned that it can get very weird at times.

  1.

    Hello, liadan!

It is weird here at times, but most of the time we’re a big happy (dysfunctional) family. Speaking of which, we should all bags places in the Dysfunctional Impish Family.

    I’m the artsy sister!

Elanor, you are not reassuring me. At all. I feel like Colin Creevey being chased by Peeves on E on his first day of school.

Okay, bad analogy, but the point still stands.

Moldorm, thank you. And I had been warned. Am very apprehensive.

Also, welcome. Imagine I said something appropriately zany in reference to your arrival, if you would.

Maybe the reason that this forum’s gender ratio is so unlike what is expected of the internet in general is that more of the girls convince their friends into joining than the boys do…

Wow. I was warned about the member shipping thing. I didn't know it was this rabid.

To whoever asked up there, which I have of course forgotten, and I just woke up so sorry, I'm not looking up the name, Liadan is Juliet Marillier as Elanor said (and Elanor, I will never stop gloating that I got you to slash) and the number 14 has absolutely no significance. It's just my old penname. I have all of two. And I reuse them.
  29.

    It isn’t that rabid.

  30.

I’d like you to know that contrary to what forum members may or may not believe, I am not being shipped. At all

Of course you are. You made the thread.

    Drill = Gurren Lagann reference.

“May my drill pierce the Heavens!”, I believe.

  34.

... One day, I will watch anime. And then I will watch this Gurren Lagann and laugh.

  35.

    Why laugh?

    P. S. Watch “Fullmetal Alchemist,” “Code Geass,” and “Death Note.” They’re all fairly decent (I’ve heard that Code Geass R2 sucked though.)

  36.

Because I’ll understand the reference sans just did.

  37.

Geass R2 wasn’t too bad, it just had pacing issues after the seasonal reset. Death Note was pretty good, and it’s one show where I recommend watching the dub just for American Light’s over-the-top scenery-chewing(POTATO CHIP LUL).

And then I will watch this Gurren Lagann and cry manly tears.

This is the more appropriate reaction to the scene I quoted, although you will laugh too.

  38.

And then I will watch this Gurren Lagann and cry manly tears.

I still have the picture, you know. A lot of people haven’t seen it yet.

This is the more appropriate reaction to the scene I quoted, although you will laugh too.

    Is it sad?

  39.

    Is it sad?

In a happy way. It makes me tear up every time.

  40.

Do you mean bittersweet, or is it so happy you want to cry?

(I’m only asking because I likely won’t see it for quite some time)

    Hey, you! 0o

    Welcome to II! =)

  41.

Bittersweet. The good guys are trapped in their own separate alternate realities created by self-recognition and their own unfulfilled desires. Simon(my avatar) is in a reality where he is a boy again, scraping by with his older brother figure(who died earlier in the series) by stealing from the beastmen who ruled the surface world earlier in the series. Basically, it’s the life he would have had if he and the other character would have had if they had decided not to fight the power. They get caught stealing though, and the alternate reality version of his older brother figure apologizes and bows a bunch and tries to get Simon to do it too, so they can survive. Then the real version of the character shows up, declaring the universe isn’t big enough for two of him, and delivers the lines I quoted when Simon points out have crazy it is.

The scene is quite a bit longer than that, but yeah. I have a link to it bookmarked on youtube, but it’s not subbed.

  42.

Ah. Well, when and if I am able to watch it, I’ll recognize this scene.
