I liked the guy with the blue hair…I think his name was Dahario or somesuch.
Aaarrrgh!
Martin’s teases and riddles about cast members are killing me.. I’m melting…
Ser Seven is another terrific award winning actor. He will be going back to a place he’s been before. This is a guy who once went to the wars with our Jaime, though it’s a good thing that Jaime wasn’t a kingslayer then, or all history might have been changed. And there are mountains in Westeros that he might know, though his character has never seen ‘em.
Yeah, I just read that. The anticipation is killing me! Let’s see… so he’s worked in Ireland before, and has won awards. Huh.
Oooh! I saw this on the ASOIAF Board:
I also support Iain Glen as Ser Jorah Mormont:
- Award Winning – Silver Berlin Bear – Will be going back to a place he’s been before – morocco, both filming location of Jorah and “Kingdom of Heaven” – Once went to the wars with our Jaime – “Kingdom of Heaven” – Important King involved – he was “Richard Coeur de Lion” in “Kingdom of Heaven” – Mountains he might know – played in movie “Mountains of the Moon” – Possible Jaimes: Kevin McKidd, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau
I proposed Nikolaj Coster-Waldau before, but now he seems an even better fit.
Ser Seven is probably either Rhaegar or Barristan the Bold.
Why’s that? Neither of those two are in the pilot.
A possible Samwell?
EDIT: Also, a possible Robb.
Michael Cera does mainly movies.. he might be good as Samwell but I don’t see him doing it.
...That kid is neither fat nor ugly. I’d peg him more as Bran or Robb Stark, although he’s probably too old for the former.
As for why Ser Seven might be Rhaegar or Barristan, I have no idea who’s in the pilot, but those are both Sers, both fought alongside Jaime before he was Kingslayer, and considering Rhaegar died and Barristan was captured by Robert well before King’s Landing was sacked by the Lannisters and Jaime slew Aerys…
I mean, there are other possibilities. Could be Stannis Baratheon, Arthur Dayne, Tywin Lannister from a certain point of view…
But Rhaegar seems like the most likely prospect to me for the character. If you think this series is not going to be flashback-heavy, you’ve got another thing coming, and Rhaegar is probably the most important character in the entire series.
Stannis will be important, but he’s barely there in the first book.
True. In fact, he isn’t there at all. He’s mentioned several times, but the character isn’t even part of a flashback sequence in Book One.
He has some action near the end. It does need to be an important cast though, since he’s so prevalent later on.
I’m looking forward to seeing the Cleganes and Oberyn.
CASTING!!!! Squee!!!
As Jaime Lannister, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau
As Theon Greyjoy, Alfie Allen
As Arya Stark, Maisie Williams
As Sansa Stark, Sophie Turner
As Robb Stark, Richard Madden
As Daenerys Targaryen, Tamzin Merchant
As Ser Jorah Mormont, Iain Glen
More new roles for the pilot have been announced here. The actress for Sansa is not the same Sophie Turner from Doctor Who, the article got that wrong.
Alas, I have been beaten to it!
I got all those from Martin’s blog.
Yeah. I started writing my post, then I saw that Martin had more details than the article (and pictures of Turner and Maisie), and I got distracted.
Yep. This is turning out to be really good..
The guy they cast to play Jaime is… wow. So. Hot.
But seriously, I am probably most excited about the actress they cast to play Dany. This is shaping up to be one amazing show! Cant wait for the pilot to come out!
More pics of Arya and Sansa, respectively.
Aw, Arya looks cute. But she looks spunky too- perfect for Arya.
Sansa looks suspiciously like Luna Lovegood…is she Evanna Lynch?
No, her name is Sophie Turner. Luna / Evanna has a real dreamy look.. even if she’s smiling.
I agree, Arya looks perfect for the character.
Oh. I thought she had the dreaminess, but yeah. Isn’t Sansa a redhead? That’s how I always saw her.
It just occured to me that the person that Arya reminds me of is Scout Finch from the TKAM movie.
Yeah, Sansa is auburn.
She becomes okay in the rest of the books.. not as idiotic.
But Dany saved her, so she was probably expecting some gratitude. And she’s so young…
For the record, Cera would be hilariously awesome for Sam the Slayer if he could put on about a buck-fifty or so.
Rest of the casts look fantastic so far. Can’t wait ಥ_ಥ
The casting looks great. I want this show so much. I just wish it would be Hulu.
I agree, Arya looks perfect for the character.
0o
Yeah I can totally imagine her running around stabbing people. :P
I just wish it would be Hulu.
Why will it not be Hulu?
note, I am seething with rage
It’s HBO. The only networks on Hulu are ABC, NBC, and Fox.
... damn it! You’re right. .. I’ll have to find it somewhere else then.. I don’t usually watch TV.
It’ll probably be available via torrent or Rapidshit if you are desperate enough.
Rapidshit if you are desperate enough.
Heh, I can tell you’ve been around the internet. :P
Yeah, most likely, but not for a while. Usually when the DVD comes out. I’ll find it on the HBO site.
Heh, I can tell you’ve been around the internet. :P
I’ve got a premium membership to it now x_x
I have HBO, but I will probably buy the DVD anyway.
Yeah, I will most likely buy it too. But it has to survive the first season.
More riddles and stuff.
Meanwhile, off across the water, casting continues. The latest auditions I have screened were for “Nameless Eunuch” and “Red-Headed Whore.” (Remember, there are no small parts. Red-Headed Whore has a great line). Only one part has been filled since the Secret Seven were announced, but I expect to hear about more castings Real Soon Now.
The queen from 300 is Cersei. ‘Nuff said.
Isn’t she also Sarah Connor?
Yeah, but it got cancelled.
I just finished AFFC.
What the dumb eff.
Jaime’s too manly.
Jaime is HOT. Shut up XD
No, just kidding. Sorry. I have my fangirl moments as well. But isnt he supposed to be this badass knight? Those were manly, right? I mean, wielding a several pounds – heavy sword is not that much fun for your muscles. Or will the actor become less manly for the part?
And Cersei casting – so much win. I loved the Terminator show so much because of the lead. Although I have to say, I really cant imagine this actress playing Cersei. She seems a bit too nice
Jaime’s supposed to be strong and manly, but also uncommonly pretty.
I’m pretty sure that guy’s jaw could crush coal into diamonds.
Yes, it looks like it most definitely could…. giggle <3
I’m pretty sure that guy’s jaw could crush coal into diamonds.
I was about to take a sip of juice when I saw that. Good thing too, or I would have had mango nectar juice all over my keyboard / monitor.
@Morvius – haha true. but she is still a bitch:P I only remember that actress from Terminator – Sarah Connor Chronicles where she was supremely awesome, so I cannot really see her in that role XD
I doubt George R. R. Martin will finish the series. :P
Yeah, that’s been around for a while. Its a handy resource.
Gah. I just read every TVTrope related to the series. God, why?
Because you don’t want to live your life for the next month or so. :D
lol
I loved the joke that Spoony made in one of his recent reviews – a videogame character gets into a library OF TEH FUTURE!!!!ELEVEN and he says something like “yeah well, it is year 2040, but Game of Thrones is not finished yet” I lold
I think this needs to be revived. xP
So… Continuing from Breeze’s intro thread, Arya is meh for me. I like Sandor, Jamie, Tyrion and Sansa better.
I too am “meh” about Arya. It’s really unlikely that she survived this long, and she’s really rude.
Well, so are a lot of the other characters. And when you think about what she’s been through…
Sorry, this post was copied from Breeze’s thread. Sansa is meh for me. I can’t see that she’s very… I dunno, unique? Her reactions don’t surprise me at all. Predictable, I guess, is the word I’m looking for.
Sansa gets better later on…
Spoilers for those who haven’t finished A Game of Thrones:
Yoren? Something like that. A Black Brother.
Yeah, it was Yoren.
When I first started reading, Sansa annoyed me and I liked Arya, but Sansa started growing on me, and Arya became more a sociopath than anything, so now I like Sansa while Arya gets a meh.
Sansa finally wised up, so she’s tolerable now.
I suppose I can’t give a definite opinion of Sansa until I finish A Feast for Crows though…
Jamie is my favorite, especially since he
And I was disappointed to find out that Ser Loras was a cocky douche.
Well, so are a lot of the other characters.
I can’t say I’m fond of those characters either.
Some of the characters aren’t too bad. Doran isn’t particularly rude or unlikeable.
Having finished A Game of Thrones last night, I can say without a doubt that I liked Eddard Stark the best of all.
Ahem.
Anyway, my other favourites would be:
Tyrion Lannister
Jon Snow
Arya Stark
Catelyn Stark
Daenerys Targaryen.
I really wonder how many of them make it through to the end of the series. How many books are there?
(And also, Jennifer Ehle is going to be in the TV series! YES!)
Do you know WAII??? Because he’s a [insert swear here] idiot. I liked him all the same, but he’s a gigantic moron really.
How many books are there?
Four so far, with seven planned. The fifth has been almost done for about four years now.
Do you know WAII??? Because he’s a [insert swear here] idiot. I liked him all the same, but he’s a gigantic moron really.
Too ‘honourable’?
No, this is not a copy of the script of the pilot. I don’t know where you get these ideas, honestly.
:O
Even if the show gets Green Lighted by HBO it probably won’t be aired until around spring 2011. D:
Yeah, but at least we know its coming if it gets green-lighted.
Spring 2O11? Whut? Oh, plese Tv executive gods, do not scrap Game of Thrones, please dont.
They have my vote.
I wonder how well a politician who ran on that would do…
Is that really the script, Virgil? I can’t tell if you are kidding or not. The only thing that makes me suspicious is I heard somewhere that they were going to age some of the younger kids up.
As far as I know, thats really the script.
And the kids should be aged a bit more, if you take a look at the actors and what GRRM said.
It seems pretty good/faithful to me outside the ages remaining the same. They need to hurry up with this shit IMO.
Game of Thrones has just been greenlit.
8D
I need to re-read the books soon.
I finally finished A Feast for Crows. Just two complaints. First off, in his epilogue thingy, George R R Martin states that Dances with Dragons “will be along next year.” It has been more than a year. Hmph. Other than that, it was quite good. Possibly the worst in the series, but still, quite good. :D
I need to finish the series still…
All the information on its release can be found here.
I can’t really blame GRRM. I’d be doing the same thing.
He has released some sample chapters, so that’s nice.
I was planning to buy that in time for Christmas last year, but it turns out to be prohibitively expensive.
http://livefeed.hollywoodreporter.com/2010/06/game-of-thrones-trailer-.html
uggggghhhhhhhhh!
I can’t remember the last time I was as excited for something as I am for this.
It needs to come out. Now.
That’s it?
Its a twenty second spot with two seconds (maybe) of actual footage. >:[
@ Virgil – hear hear. Though the fact that the trailer has come out itself is exciting, the trailer itself has left me severely underwhelmed. “Thats it” is about right. But then, on the other hand, what can you really expect about a year before the series itself comes out? Lets just wait for the following trailers, I am sure they will more than make up for this one in the levels of AWESOME.
GAME OF THRONES!!! YEAAAAHH!!
Arya became more a sociopath than anything, so now I like Sansa while Arya gets a meh.
Oddly enough, this is why I like Arya. I have a weird fascination wiht sociopaths. ‘Tis why I love the show Dexter so much.
Do you know WAII??? Because he’s a [insert swear here] idiot. I liked him all the same, but he’s a gigantic moron really.
This. I re-read GoT a few weeks ago and this is exactly how I felt.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT
THAT IS PERFECT
PERFECT
I’ll admit that’s pretty good…
Seriously though, all caps aside, that’s the best cast in a series of very good casts. If you don’t know why, you need to watch The Wire.
