I guess I’ll add to Spanman’s list:
Solo artists: BoA, IU, JUNIEL, Taeyang, Ailee, Baek A Yeon & G-Dragon
Babby’s first kpop (SNSD): Gee, Hoot & Oh!
Other groups: T-ara, Miss A, SHINee & 2PM (I don’t like them as much, but you could also check out 4Minute, Sistar and Beast, too.)
More BIGBANG: Fantastic Baby, How Gee & Haru Haru
More 2NE1: Can’t Nobody, Lonely & Hate You
I thought about adding SHINee to my list, but I figured Taemin’s sexy extensions might not be well-received.
I feel like for the amount of Korean Starcraft I watch, I should know more kpop bands, but I never really cared for it. Gangnam Style is pretty fun though. Girl’s Generation and SNSD comes up on every now and then.
Yeah kpop is definitely not universally enjoyable. But then I have disliked Girl’s Generation from day one (Girl’s Generation and SNSD are the same group btw).
There you go. Show’s you much how much I pay attention. Those names always get thrown around. I guess it makes sense that they’re one and the same.
It’s Cold by Epik High
So glad I discovered this group.
Their new album comes out next week :3
Miyuki – Dreamy Mind
At first I didn’t like Fiona Apple’s new material much, but now I’m definitely more appreciative. There are some songs that click better than others, but Fiona’s music always has to grow on me.
Fiona Apple was in the news recently for possession of cannabis. I thought the name seemed familiar.
They Can’t Take That Away From Me — Ella Fitzgerald
Fiona Apple was in the news recently for possession of cannabis. I thought the name seemed familiar.
Yep. It’s sad that after coming out in the open after so long, that’s what people are talking about.
SizzleBird – Magic Lantern
Am I the only person who thinks that ‘Toxic’ might be pretty good if it were sung by someone other than Britney Spears?
I Set My Friends On Fire did a screamo cover that, surprisingly, made the original better. Same with the Crank Dat Soulja Boy song.
Epik High came back. Don’t Hate Me made me laugh because of little boys with beards drawn on.
Noooooooooooooooooooo
YG… What have you done with Epik High? :(
Another Brick in the Wall, Pink Floyd.
Slow Motion by Epik High
Definitely one of the weirder videos I’ve ever seen…
Enchanted Forest by The Muses Rapt
Genre: Psy Trance
and Between Us by Aspirations.
Genre: ?Not even sure? Super melodic girl singing, with like punk yelling. But I really like it for some reason. Actually, their best is probably Get F-d (But I edit stuff like that out with Audacity for my own listening :) )
Abaresque by Debussy
Piano Guys, and then using Pandora to start a station. My brother introduced me and I love it like little else, especially for writing.
Hopefully Floor will be a good temp replacement.
Adolescent – Golden Halls Pt 2
I’m starting to add more and more indie Korean artists to my music library, and Mad Soul Child, an electric-house trio, is my latest discovery. They have a really nice, unique and refreshing musical style and I really like their vocalist, Jinsil. It’s a shame they’ve only released one album so far.
I must be channelling a fourteen year old girl or something, because I currently have Part of Me by Katy Perry and What Doesn’t Kill You(Stronger) by Kelly Clarkson stuck on my brain. Oh, and they’re playing on repeat with a couple other songs while I write.
Gahhhhhhhhhhhhh.
WHY SO CATCHY.
I actually kinda like What Doesn’t Kill You… It’s just so insanely catchy!
Einaudi – Nuvole Bianche
Willie Nelson – She Is Gone.
Willie is one of the gods of music, in my opinion. Regardless of personal taste, his talent is unsurpassed in his style/genre, and his performances were always raw, passionate, and absolutely sincere.
I actually kinda like What Doesn’t Kill You…
Same here. I refuse to allow anything by Katy Perry into my brain, though.
Freaking iTunes region-locking prevented me from getting Elisapie Isaac’s newest album, so instead I got her previous one. It’s really good!
No Mercy by B.A.P has a really good beat for dancing. Also, the intro is catchy.
ShockLine – Scy
U & Ur Hand, by P!nk
...NOPE. NOT ASHAMED. IT’S AWESOME, OK?
I’m not here for your entertainmeeeeeeeeeeeeent, you don’t really wanna mess with me tonight!
I dunno, I’ve heard about 6 P!nk songs and I’ve liked all of them. I almost decided to look up the rest of her songs on Youtube but then I didn’t for… some reason.
Seeing The Who on Friday! :D
I’ve been listening to Mai Kuraki’s complete discography. She’s definitely one of my favorite artists of all time.
On Puppet’s earlier recommendation I started to listen to some Primary… and now I can’t stop.
ohmygoshinorite?
Korean hip-hop is my new addiction. I really love how tight knit the indie scene is because it makes finding new artists really easy.
Rachmaninov – The Isle of the Dead.
WHY is this not more well-known? It is a tragedy.
I might need to make this my welcoming-thread thing. Sansa can be all THE WIRE, and I can be all like RACHMANINOV, BITCHES.
Have you seen a movie called “Shine”? It is about Geoffrey Rush (aka Captain Barbarossa in “Pirates of the Caribbean”) playing Rachmaninov for the piano.
EDIT: All errors in old white men identification have been rectified.
I saw the Who last night and even though they’re almost 70, they still sound really really good
Geoffrey Rush (aka Davy Jones, aka Tentacle Face in “Pirates of the Caribbean”)
Uhh, no, that’s Bill Nighy.
This is Geoffrey Rush.
Yes. Rush was Barbossa, not Jones. Rush is one of Australia’s most respected actors, I’m not about to confuse him with The Science Guy.
That’s Bill Nye, you philistine. >:(
<trollface.jpg>
Turnabout is fair play.
All the old white men look the same to me. Sorry. But still. Rachmaninov plays an important part in that movie. I shouldn’t have tried to identify Mr. Rush. Mr Rush is younger and handsomer in “Shine” than he is now, even if he’s not Tentacle Face.
All the old white men look the same to me.
All societies everywhere are racist, Taku. Anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves. Are you offended, as a less-old white man? Alas, how my heart bleeds for you.
All societies everywhere have humour, Orlando. Anyone who takes that gif seriously is kidding themselves.
That’s Bill Nye, you philistine.
No, this is Bill Nye. ;P
Woo got Led Zeppelin’s Celebration Day album today. :D
I watched the bootleg a while ago. It was pretty good. That show happened right when I was becoming a Led Zeppelin fan but it took me years to get around to watching it.

I couldn’t afford the version with the DVD sadly, so I just have the audio but I’ve been listening to it pretty much nonstop for the past 24 hours
Guys, I’m reading Paradise Lost and listening to the album of the same name by Symphony X. I know everyone loves Symphony X, and I do like several of their songs, but I’m not feeling it.
Amnesia by Loptimist
Tom Day – Going Home
I saw the Who on saturday, Tonight, I’m going to see them again. Tomorrow, I’m going to see them for a third time.
Still the greatest band on the planet.
Listening to Quadrophenia.
....waiiiiiiiiiit. DID YOU GO TO THE SAME CONCERT AS KARAMAZOVA ON SATURDAY?????????
Great writing music, at least for me.
....waiiiiiiiiiit. DID YOU GO TO THE SAME CONCERT AS KARAMAZOVA ON SATURDAY?????????
Uh… idk. I was at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan.
Tonight I was at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL.
I met Simon Townshend.
The Joe Louis Arena is a pretty cool place. I’ve never actually been to an event there, but my family goes to the auto show every year (which is in Cobo Hall, which is attached to the Joe Louis Arena) so I’ve been in it several times.
Yeah it’s nice. I’d never been there before either, Usually big arena acts play at the Palace.
....waiiiiiiiiiit. DID YOU GO TO THE SAME CONCERT AS KARAMAZOVA ON SATURDAY?????????
Ok I just scrolled up and saw the post you were talking about- no, she(?) saw them a week before I did. I saw them on the 24th,
The Inspector is indeed female, or has at least has identified as such.
You Just Keep Me Hangin’ On — Wilson Pickett
All Blues by Miles Davis
ODESZA – Today
Blue in Green by Miles Davis
Such a beautiful song.
CHRISTMAS MUSICCCC!!! ANY AND ALL KINDS.
I am probably annoying everyone else in the house right now, but I’m going to sing along anyway. Gerroverit.
See, I’d appreciate Christmas music more if radio stations/stores didn’t start playing it the week of Thanksgiving, if not earlier. After more than a month, I just get sick of it.
I met Simon Townshend.
JEALOUS.
I saw the Who on saturday, Tonight, I’m going to see them again. Tomorrow, I’m going to see them for a third time.
JEALOUS I ONLY GOT TO SEE THEM ONCE. BUT IT WAS GLORIOUS.
Still the greatest band on the planet.
Yes.
Listening to Quadrophenia.
Favourite album of all time, not even kidding. I have to listen to it practically every day.
Wow me too. That album changed me, big time. When I was 16 Quadrophenia was everything to me.
Wow me too. That album changed me, big time. When I was 16 Quadrophenia was everything to me.
It definitely is one of those life-changing albums. I listen to it a lot at work, when I have to stare at a computer screen and shuffle papers for six hours straight. It makes the job a bit less soul-sucking. Seeing it live was even more amazing. I had shitty seats because I’m poor but it was amazing none-the-less and I sang along to everything. I freaked out when they had The Ox’s bass solo during 5:15 and freaked out even more when they had Moon’s performance of Bell Boy (Keith Moon is probably one of my favourite people ever.) It was supposed to be my little brother’s Christmas present (I am the greatest older sister in the world) but it was just as much for me.
But my other favourite Who album would have to be The Who Sell Out.
It’s hard for me to express how much I really related to that album. But I blew a whole lot of money seeing them play it because to me it’s the best thing ever made by humans.
I was in row 12 on Pete’s side at the second show in Chicago. I’ve never been that close before in an arena, it was crazy.
I was with a friend from Texas who went all the way to Chicago to see them (they aren’t playing in Texas and the closest they’re going is Arizona in February) because he feels the same way about the album and the band as I do (I make sure all my friends understand the majesty of Quadrophenia).
I’m sort of surprised at the turnout at these shows because Quadrophenia is a difficult album, and they just play it all the way through with no breaks. But both of the Chicago concerts were sold out. I don’t know. I feel like it was tailor made for the 16 year old me but I know people that had trouble getting into it.
I saw it at the TD Garden in Boston and the place was HUGE and completely sold out. I was way up high in the balcony with my little brother, and we were basically the only sober ones in our row. It was just….god, I can’t even really explain it but that concert was probably the high point of this year. But there’s something about the album overall that I just have this deep emotional connection with. Like that somehow it understands me far too well. Or maybe that should be reversed. And now I’m just babbling but you have no idea how excited I am right now because I’ve never met anyone else who liked Quadrophenia this much.
Also Daltrey looks way too good for a man in his late 60’s
Currently listening to Misty Mountain Hop, by Led Zeppelin
....only the song just changed to Four Sticks. Also by Led Zeppelin.
Haru Haru — BIGBANG
The narrative for this song is very confusing.
Also, BIGBANG boys sometimes have cornrows. But not in “Haru Haru.”
not to self: don’t ever listen to The Wall while you’re feverish and ill at work ever again
Currently trying to figure out which albums I should keep on my computer out of the giant stack that I borrowed from my university’s radio station.
God fucking dammit. A year. MORE THAN A YEAR I HAVE AVOIDED THIS.
Someone Like You and Rolling in the Deep are both stuck in my head.
Hard Hittin by Loptimist
In My Time of Dying. By Zeppelin
Refrain, Audacious Tar from HMS Pinafore (which I’m watching in the background)
My Friends, from a Sweeney Todd bootleg with Norm Lewis as Sweeney
Inspector Karamazova, what did you think of the new song in Les Mis? Ordinarily it would be sacrilege to consider writing a new song for such a beloved musical, but Suddenly feels like it should have been part of the original from the start, doesn’t it? I’ll admit I kinda fell in love with that song, esp[ecially Hugh Jackman singing it. Colm Wilkinson would have made it angelic.
Inspector Karamazova, what did you think of the new song in Les Mis?
I really liked it and I think it filled a void in Valjean’s character. There’s a wonderful passage in the book about how he’s never really experienced love of that kind before, and I think the song captured that very well. However because of the placement, we lose that great transition from the Thenardier Waltz into Look Down, and that was sad.
I could TOTALLY hear Colm singing it and that would be amazing (HE STILL COULDA PLAYED VALJEAN DAMMIT. :P He was a wonderful Bishop though).
currently listening to The Lemon Song by Led Zeppelin
Alfie Boe and Matt Lucas (Valjean and Thenardier in the 25th Les Mis) are so adorable together.
He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother
omg.
That is awesome.
Here, have Alfie singing while cooking
He makes it look so effortless…
OMSGIH INSPECTOR YOU HAVE TO HEAR THIS
Colm Wilkinson singing Gethsemane from JC Superstar
<3 Such a voice. Absolutely perfect for the tone/context of the song.
Me, playing Working Man by Rush. Because I’m vain and like to watch myself.
Colm Wilkinson singing Gethsemane from JC Superstar
That is what got me interested in Superstar in the first place. :D
He is so fucking good I can’t even.
Also I would sell my soul if I could find a bootleg of his Judas.
But I can’t find anything of it anywhere. :(
Solitude, played by Thelonious Monk
Crushcrushcrush by Paramore
Birdhouse in Your Soul, They Might be Giants
Yes! I finally found it. I knew it was a Project 86, but it was so hard to find because I was mishearing the lyrics
There’s a lot of yelling so I wasn’t able to pick up many lyrics initially and I thought they were saying “we called it bloody murder” Rather than “we caught you plotting murder”
My little sister got her first ipod, and she asked me for a couple Beatles albums to put on it.
I have trained her well.
sob my little baby is listening to something besides Christian rock now they grow up so fast.
(and I gave her Tommy too. Because everyone needs to listen to Tommy.)
