Yes, so much loathing. Yes indeed.

  4.

Loathing, What is this feeling so
unadulterated loathing sudden and new felt the
for her face moment I laid eyes on
    her voice you,my pulse is
her clothing rushing my head is
    lets just say reeling
    WE LOATHE IT ALL!
    Oh what is this feeling?
    every little trait however
small makes our very flesh does it have a name
    begin to crawl yes, ahhhh
    Loathing
    Loathing
    There’s a strange
    exhiliration
    Loathing
    In such total
    detestation
    Loathing
    It’s so pure so strong
    So strong
Though I do admit it came on fast
still I do believe that it can last and I will be…
    Loathing Loathing for forever
    Loathing Loathing
    truly deeply loathing
    Loathing you you
    my whole life long
    loathing, unadulterated loathing

Ah. I’ve never been a huge fan of Wicked, though I don’t hate it. The only musical I can truly say I hate is Spring Awakening. I have a special spot of loathing in my heart for that show.

The last thing I listened to was….

Yeah, I haven’t listened to all of GG/SNSD’s songs, but I quite like the ones I’ve heard so far. While there is a certain amount of autotune, when all nine of them sing together in a chorus it sounds really amazing. I also really like how diverse the songs are, with all kinds of rock, electronic, and old school elements thrown into them.

See, I actually kind of liked that it used actual dialogue from the books, but I understand that everyone might not like that.
Oh, and after listening to Barton Hollow, I think The Civil Wars ought to do the Hanging Tree for Mockingjay.
Anyway, for the most part I really liked this soundtrack. I think some of the best songs are the ones about her father.

Tonight, I took my co-worker’s advice and decided to branch out by listening to new music.

I flipped around on the radio stations (though I get bad reception at my office)

I tried listening to about two minutes of rap and changed the channel. Two minutes of Country, and then changed the channel. I was ok with the rock station but that got old pretty fast and as I was flipping around, I heard opera. So I stopped there and just listened to the classical station most of the night.

    Oh well. I TRIED.

Rock radio usually isn’t the best way to get a sense of how great the genre can be, just sayin’.

Currently listening to: A Perfect Circle’s debut album, Mer de Noms. That’s a pretty damn near perfect rock record in my book, although I don’t know if it’s to your taste, exactly, Inspector.

When you’re listening to music through stereo, do the singer’s (or singers’) voice(s) mostly come from the right and the middle? The music itself, does it normally combine with the voice(s) mainly coming from the right, mixing with the music coming from the left?

    •
      CommentAuthorInkblot
    • CommentTimeMay 8th 2012 edited

Depends on how it’s mixed. Vocals generally come straight center, with a slight left or right bias depending on the band and album.

Unless your music specifically uses panning to left or right as an effect, you should be getting about an equal sound level from both sides.

    Kpop? :D

I listened to the song, No One.. My headphones are pretty nice and my sound should be correctly balanced, so this should be semi accurate:

The singer’s voice is mainly centered, with a subtle echo that goes from left to right throughout the song. Drums are consistently on the left, “electronic sounds” are middle and right and piano is right bias. I’m not sure how helpful that will be, but you can try listening to the song a couple of times only wearing the left headphone, then the right headphones, and then both of them together. If the music sort of matches up with what I’m saying then everything should be fine.

Also, I’m not sure what operating system you run, but on Windows 7 you should be able to see a “sound” icon on the system tray (bottom right corner on the taskbar). Right click on it and click on “Open Volume Mixer.” A new windows should pop up with a list of devices, click on the icon of the one that says “Speakers.” Another windows should pop up. Click on the “Levels” tab, and then on the “Balance” button. If the “L” and “R” values match up then everything should be balanced computer wise.

  29.

Unfortunately, the singers’ voices are indeed in the middle channel, so there is no way to separate them from the instruments or adjust their volume independently. In many genres the singing is muffled by the thudding bass line.

@Puppet: Yep. I rarely listen to any other music outside of Kpop. :3

I think I can kind of hear what you mean. I mean, the drums (I think it’s drums… it sounds more like some other instruments — a piano for example, but I’m pretty sure there’s some drumming there) are definitely more obvious in the left and I can definitely recognise the piano on the right.

And thanks for introducing me to the volume mixer. I’ve been playing around with the settings on both the volume mixer and on my hearing equipments and now I’m hearing Kpop in a new way. I didn’t know music could sound this… beautiful. It’s so… for lack of better word, amazing. :D I just want to sit hear and listen to the songs all night long.
